I have Fallout 2 on disc but I wouldn't mind buying it again on gog if it was a less glitch-filled version of the game. I know that there are free patches but right now Fallout 2 is on sale so I don't really mind paying.

One glitch is that I apparently can't help some ghouls at a nuclear plant or something, idk it was a long time ago since I looked it up on the fallout wiki. So do glitches like this one still appear in the gog version?

I'm not absolutely certain, but as far as I remember if you're worried about bugs get the unofficial patch and it doesn't matter if it's the GOG version or not. After that I'm not aware of the GOG version having fewer bugs.

Still GOG versions of old games are normally the best way to get them.

Last time I played it with the patches I'm quite sure I helped the gouls you mentioned without problem.

Did you get the game from gog?

Yes, though the so called "classic" versions. the game itself shouldn't be any different though.

I think I last played it near the start of the year and all seemed fine. Though I also used Unofficial Patch and the Restoration Project for Fallout 2.

If you paln to install the unofficial patch there is no difference what version of the game you use. Both disk one and GOG one are good in this aspect.

If you do not plan to install the unoffical patch the only real difference might be game version. Version 1.00 has plenty of really bad bugs and glitches. Check what you game reports on the title screen. GOG provides version 1.02d. Which is still pretty glitchy but major bugs are fixed. As a bonus it comes with GOG's own DirectDraw wrapper which saves you from tinckering with graphics compatibilty settings on modern Windows. But you can reach the same effect by installing an offical patch 1.02d and SFall over the old disk version.

For the best experience I'd still recommend to use the unoffical patch.
