Game just got an update and the classic launcher is gone. It was the only one working properly for me and I was about to do the oil ring.

I suggest you to downgrade the game to the previous version because they also updated sfall to the latest version which may change things compared to the old one.If you had any other mods better backup them(if its not too late with this update). The classic version is still there. They actually made a mistake in Galaxy by setting the classic version to start by default it seems (from fallout.exe) while it should be Fallout2Launcher.exe. Currently looking how to report this so they can fix it. Also disable auto updates in general for all games - you really don't need it. You still going get a notice for any updates

Edit: Okay I may have read wrong what you meant. You actually want to start from the launcher which is the mistake I descibed they have made. You can manually change it from the arguments menu in Galaxy so you can launch from it!

The game definitely does NOT launch in classic mode by defualt with the new update. Reverting did not help. Classic launcher came back, but the game doesn't start.

Yea I am sorry about the confiusion. I am calling classic the version without the hi-res patch - it starts in lower than 1080p resolution and you cannot change that in game. This version is started from fallout.exe. The modded version with the hi-res patch starts from Fallout2Launcher.exe - you can try to manually start tt from the folder of the game to see if it works. Otherwise I am not sure what the issue could be. Do you have any mods installed? For me the updated version is working
