EyeNixon: I played on Very Hard (which gave me inflated experience points), tried to avoid enemies as much as possible because they were incredibly annoying, and still had an amazingly easy time while reaching the level cap at my eighteenth hour.
What the hell were you doing? Killing radroaches for hours on end on Very Easy?

Yeah I cranked it up to Very Hard right outta the box and it was still laughably easy. I wasn't even playing really alert like I would in alot of shooters. It's just that if I ran out of VATS points I would just spam rounds in their direction and I would kill everything by just sheer volume. Ammo was a moot point.
Also, forget about the Karma system. It affected my gameplay just as much as SPECIAL stats. (Which is to say, not at all)

Triplanetary: So last night, I put a kettle of water on for tea and sat down to start a new game of Fallout 2. An hour later, my roommate knocked on my door and asked me about the kettle. I repeatedly smacked myself on the forehead as I walked to the kitchen, where I found that I had indeed let the water boil out of the kettle and ruined the poor thing.
Early this afternoon, I put a pot of water on for tea, a solution I'll have to stick with until I buy a new kettle, and sat down to continue my game of Fallout 2. An hour later... yes, I had done it again. Twice in two days! This isn't something I normally do often (or at all), so I can only assume that Fallout 2 is to blame for sucking me in and making me forget about the real world.
It's an awesome thing for a game to do, but I lose a lot of cookware this way. :P

Buy a kettle with a whistle ;)

you apparently havent met my good friend, mod community
you may have higher ground here just because this is a fallout anal site but to the rest of the world your just a pissed fanboy who is mad at advancements in graphics and gameplay
truly i love every single game equally in the whole series except that P.O.S for the Xbox and ps2
woa thats biggest epic fail I have ever seen :-D
noone have anything against graphics of Failout 3, but every one have nuclear arsenal of Russia against simplification (heavy) of RPG element of fallout games.
can you show me at least ONE post there, where someone have anything against graphics of failout (except posts with critisizm of graphical bugs) ?
WTFreak man? This guy is talking about how immersive fallout 2 is and how he ruined a kettle and people have turned it in to another "OMG Falloutz 3 is sooo bad" thread? Guys give it a break, please! We know a lot of people hate fallout 3, we also know alot of people love it. Okay fine hate each other for all I care, just stop hijacking threads and talking about it...sheez. It's all I ask. Just let a thread complimenting the fallout series (And about having to replace a kettle and pot) stay just that.
Am I the only one that has gone past the point of irritation on this subject? I've been listening...er reading it for at least 3 years and was hoping it wouldn't spill over to all the fallout threads on GOG.
AHHHHH
....as for the immersive nature of the fallout games I would have to totally agree. I've lost many hours on all of them (except for the xbox one. I haven't played that one at all.) Funny how people say the graphics on the first three are "so badz" yet they work so wonderfully well. Especially with the bloody mess perk, heh.

The worst I've even done is accidentally forgotten to put dinner in the oven thirty minutes late.
They should totally put that up on the site as a disclaimer.
WARNING: use of Fallout 2 may cause undesirable results in cookware.
