I put this in the 1.1 patch thread...
Well... I got the 1.1 patch... and now when I try to start the game it gives me the following error...
"Wrong disc inserted. Please insert the original Evil Genius Play CD."
Horray :(
Any ideas?
I tried reinstalling the game as well and I still get the error.
I looked around google, but didn't find anything.

well the unofficial 1.1 patch is ofcourse not supported by GOG.
Anyway technically speaking the 1.1 patch should be set of text files. at least the one I use doesn't modify the game executable and hence there is no returned CD check
So maybe search for a different version of the patch
(you want the unofficial fan made patch)
the GOG version is already at 1.01 and hence you don't need an official patch
(as the 1.01 is the latest official version)

Yeah I know it's unofficial.
Some of the stuff in there is nice to have though.
150 minion limit
Turrets in base
That kind of stuff.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it runs now, but I would like to use the 1.1 patch.

the good one is just a set of text files. (a selfextracting rar/zip )

Having downloaded it myself it is just a self-extracting rar-archive and it doesn't contain any executables, only text files, csv files and what appear to be language files.
Have you tried this one?

Actually, i've just downloaded that and i'm getting a patch.zip file with a patch.exe file inside the zip...
Maybe they made an .exe installer and messed something up ?
