How do I update the game, didn't install the optional GOG software.

Does the game let me know it needs updating and I do it manually or does it do it automatically ?

If it's like most other GOG games, updates without Galaxy are manual and aren't shown in the game. You'll need to download any applicable separate patch file that will appear beneath the game in your Library.

If you really don't want to use GOG Galaxy, then you just download the installer from the web-site and install. Later on you can come back to your GOG account and go to Library (it's under Account menu at the top). A little below there will be "My Collection( N )" drop-down menu where N is the number of games you own. In the menu there are two options: "Updated" and "Hidden". You're interested in the former. If the number beside it is more than 0, it will be clickable. Select the option and find your game. Sometimes it's a new version, sometimes it's a simple patch.

None of the GOG games I've ever installed has updated itself, and it's about a hundred I think. To get automatic updates you'll need GOG Galaxy which is in a pretty stable state right now. You can choose manual/automatic update per game, auto mode by default.

Except that everspace is not updated in gog yet, but steam has it.. :|

In case you've been away for some time; GOG never updates games over the weekend unless the developer has the same access to Galaxy that they do on Steam. We will have it Monday.
