I'm not sure if this is my type of game or not.

Does it have any type of story/missions? (I know this is planned but curious if any of it is in yet)

Is there any exploration/non-combat stuff or is it mostly shooting (and upgrading your shooting via crafting etc)?

There is a loose story, but there aren't really missions as such (Sometimes a freighter might ask for help or whatever). It's pretty much all combat & upgrades as after a few minutes interceptors will come & force you out of the current area.
