Hello!

Just installed EU2, and when I try to start it I get:

"Fatal error: could not initialize video!
---
Do you want to continue?"

"Abort, Retry, Ignore"

Independent of what I choose, it just exits. I do not get a error message, just goes back to the desktop and everything stops. I have tried several different solutions, changing compability options, reducing to 16 bit color in compability, running as administrator and so on. Also made sure it doesn't run the videos, but the same problem occurs anyway

I am running Windows 10 Home 64-bit, have a Intel I5 processor, NVIDIA graphics card (may be a intel one extra, i am uncertain)

Any options how to solve this?

I sent for support from GOG, and they had one solution that worked for me!
Copying from the email I got:


"Try to launch the game in windowed mode using DxWnd.
- Please download DxWnd: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/
- Unpack DxWnd to any folder on your desktop and then launch it via dxwnd.exe.
- In a new window, please select: Edit -> Add.
- In the 'Name' please type anything (for example: EU2).
- In the 'Path', please provide location of the game.exe (eu2.exe) which should be located inside the game installation folder (default: C:\GOG Games\Europa Universalis 2).
- In the 'Launch', you can select the game shortcut (Launch Europa Universalis 2).
- Select: Run in a window.
- Under 'Window Initial position & size' set W: 800 and H: 600.
- Save changes and try to launch the game from DxWnd.

You may need to launch DxWnd as administrator(right-click on dxwnd.exe and select: run as administrator). Otherwise, it might not work properly."
