Even though it's just a game, just pixels & code, I try to have my in-game character run as righteous a path as reasonable.
So, a righteous person keeps seeing and hearing how this nectar is vile and evil and turns its users into monsters. Does that person then use that nectar, for any purpose other than MAYBE a sealed-off suicide mission against a greater evil? F*** NO!
I played through defeating the Panorpid Queen and clearing out the guards, the hatchlings, and the half-panorpid mutant, found and ignored the nectar, got the Cure Poison and Acid Bolt spells, but when I try to leave thru the south portal, I get "The portal has been closed!".
I can find no way around this, other than to eat that !@$#%@!#$ nectar. MUST the character use the nectar in order for that portal to be open?
