Hello,
Yes: it works great with latest version of Wine.
Multi requires gog-galaxy though, which is can be tricky to install.

Game works fine with latest Lutris runtime (Lutris-GE-Proton8-8-x86_64).
Multiplayer works reasonably well if you install Galaxy to the same wine prefix. To do this, I suggest the following:
export WINEPREFIX={full path to wine prefix containing ES2}
wine GOG_Galaxy_2.0.exe
