Hello fellow GOGrs. Had a perfect install. No compatability is checked nor is run in admin mode checked. I tried them already and the game loads. But there is no keyboard support. When I hit "esc" or "enter" to cycle through the previews or to hit "enter" to start the game as asked I see my desktop flicker a bit in and out. Any suggestions fellow Enclave lovers?

Have you tried admin and compatibility after finding out it doesn't work? Also do you have any other things plugged in like a joystick or game pad?
The game may be looking on the PS/2 port for the keyboard if your keyboard is USB. Check options for a keyboard port preference or try an old PS/2 keyboard or a USB to PS/2 adaptor to see if that is the case.

Thanks guys. I have a laptop that runs great. All prior GOG games work fine too. It just won't recognize the keyboard or mouse. It goes right up to the hit "enter" button to continue. I've tried different compatability modes along with run as admin. Tried restarting, reinstalling and still get the same thing. I'm sure it's a real easy fix, just can't find it yet. Please keep the advice coming in though, I really want to play this been waiting a few years for this release. Thanks all.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, you system does have PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports and you did try them with no luck?

Well I tried plugging a usb keyboard into my laptop and low and behold it works. Problem is I'm not toting around an extra keyboard to play this game. There has got to be another solution. I also noticed that all my keys work except for the two "enter" keys for the game and for the game only. Not sure why it takes an extra keyboard for one key, you would think it would be the entire keyboard. I'll keep working the problem.

Looks like I just missed you. Thanks for the helping me. I wish this one key would work. I wonder if I could remap just this one key during game play. I'll see what I can do under keyboard properties. Thanks again.

My bad, I thought you were on a desktop.
Try going to your manufacturers website and see if there are any keyboard driver updates available for your laptop. Some manufacturers use special drivers on laptops that enable secondary functions which sometimes can cause problems. They often update and make the keyboard drivers available on the support site for the model in question.
edit : they usually group the updates by category so make sure you get the newest release if keyboard drivers are available.

Thanks Stuff, but no such luck. Computer is completely up to date and running beautifully. That pesky "enter" key for the game is all. Think I'm going to submit to Support. Thanks all for the help.

Look in Control panel or under Start \Programs, Manufacturer Name for a app to set your keyboard characteristics. Most laptops have one somewhere. It should allow you to change or turn off some of the function keys.
I would submit a help ticket to GOG but I truly believe your keyboard driver is causing the interference in which case GOG could do nothing. . . .=)

Thanks again Stuff. I had previously went into control panel to see if I could reassign the "Enter" key under the keyboard icon but and came up zilch. I didn't think about going under the Toshiba folder for a cool little app that would do the same. So I just checked and no such luck. But that good thinking. I think I might have run out of options. I submitted a ticket to support for that as well as the SLOW game play (when using additional keyboard for hitting "Enter" to get into the game.) We'll see what pops up. Thanks, anymore out of the box ideas would greatly be appreciated.

I see we are both running Toshiba laptops. I actually uninstalled the keyboard program some years ago since I didn't need the FN keys. Probably why I never have that problem. Hope you find a solution . . . =)
I'm having the same problem, actually. The game responds only to the Y and L1 buttons of my XBox-style Controller when it's plugged in, but not any of the other buttons or analog sticks or even the D-pad. When I restarted the game with the XUSB controller unplugged, it responded to keyboard commands up until I changed the Video resolution in the options menu. I have absolutely no idea how changing resolution would cause the keyboard to stop responding ingame (luckily I could Alt-Tab out and quit with the Task Manager, and the game saved the changes I made).
Any luck figuring it out? Still no resolve from here. Probably wait till I can try the game on a different laptop. Thanks for sharing.

In all honesty, I really only use the XUSB controller as a gamepad for platformers. with FPS or TPS games I use the classic keyboard/mouse combo. As such, Enclave gave me most of my keyboard control back when I started it with the XUSB controller unplugged. That said, it still locks out keyboard control when I make a major graphics options change, such as resolution or render depth. Once again though, Alt-TAB'ing and right clicking on the taskbar icon and choosing "Close" saves the settings changes, and then I can start the game again and get control back.

I really don't remember the game being this much trouble when I originally owned it when it first came out.
