Hi All

I have previously been able to play the game but since my last Win 10 reinstall I've been having serious problems trying to play the game.

I have Win 10 Pro v 21H1 (64 bit)
AMD FX 8320
R9 290X 4gb
8GB DDR3 RAM
Amd driver: 21.3.1

I've gone through the normal adjustments of changing resolution to 1080p (I'm gaming on a 4k screen), I turn off my second monitor as this seems to cause some flickering issues. I've made the suggested adjustments of:

1. Go to the install folder (Galaxy has a shortcut under More > Manage Installation)
2. Right click Empires_DMW.exe and go to properties
3. Click the compatibility tab and the "Change settings for all users button" at the bottom
4. Check "Run program as administrator", "Disable full screen optimization" make sure "Disable DPI scaling set by:" is checked at set to "System (enhanced)

I can now get in game and move the mouse cursor around, but there seems to be some strong lag between me clicking on something and the incredible slow response afterwards. For example in the Richard Lionheart 1st mission, if I try to select the 2 main characters - it can take upwards of up to 6- 10 seconds for a response on the screen. The music seems fine and plays like normal but the gameplay is lagging to the point where its completely unplayable.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I cannot recall what I did to get this to work last time.

On my second pc (Win 10 Pro, Ryzen 1700, GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 Ram) the game literally crashes as soon as i go in game and crashes back to desktop everytime, to the point where I just gave up on trying to play this on my newer PC.

im not sure ether im experiencing this same issue. i swear it didnt do it a year or two ago from what i can recall it may of started when i got my 4k monitor im not sure, im running a 5600x and a rx 580. ill try to find a solution, but have you found one yet?

Unfortunately not! I'm hoping perhaps someone else in the community may have come across a solution.

Is this the issue that when mousing over any 3d object the game slows to a crawl (2-4 fps), and mousing over a UI card causes a stutter each time?

Looking for a fix too.

I'm not sure if its the same issue but the game slows down so much its unbearable. Even when I start the mission and the map/terrain generates, it kicks in as soon as start to tell a unit to move somewhere. Although I've noticed the sound effects/audio seem ok.

I just re-installed Empires DMW myself. I had the same issues as you. I had to update my video codecs and then the lag disappeared when playing the game. Go and grab the k-lite Mega codec pack (that should cover just about any video/audio issue you can come across) and install it: https://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
