Hello all, I was browsing the internet for the patches to this game when I came across GOG actually selling this game.

I remember my awful time in trying to install this game on previous computer builds of mine, and that even with the patches the game just hated Windows 10. So when I saw this version from GOG state that is was COMPATIBLE with Win10, I signed up and bought it because this game is amazing.

After buying, I used GOG Galaxy to install this game to my hard drive specifically used for games, my F:/ drive (separate from my C:/ drive which is used for all my video editing/OS applications). And when trying to launch, the game just crashes. I assumed that this version doesn't have the patches released by Stainless Steel Studios, so I downloaded them but the installer can't recongnize that I have the game installed in the first place.

Is there something I'm missing, or have I been duped of ten dollars? Any help would be appreciated.

PC SPECS:
Intel Core i5-8400 (Coffee Lake)
16 GB DDR4-2400 G.Skill Ripjaws RAM
Gigabyte GTX 1050Ti 4GB Graphics Card
Hard Drive: HGST 1TB
I am having this exact issue. Will not launch, and the patches say there is no valid copy.
I'm having the same result on my system which is running Windows 7.

When I first installed through GOG Galaxy, the decktop Icon didn't appear unril I restarted my computer. I tried the verify/repair install feature, but still get the .exe stops working crash when I try to start the game.

I'm going to uninstall and do a reinstall and see of that helps.
same issue, anyone figure it out yet?
Anyone manage to resolve this issue. Will have to seek a refund otherwise. Game simply shows the flash screen and then doesn't launch.
"If you were like me and couldn't get the game to run the fix is very easy!!!!

go to data, then movies, inside the gog.com game folder, rename the two movies in the movie file ( so they don't run) and the game will launch perfectly!!! thank you to the person who found this in another thread!!!!

Gog.com please patch the game accordingly so everyone who shys from forums can now play the game :)"

This did not work for me. Any other suggestions?
I don’t know if this will solve it but who knows. You may have to uninstall the game to see what im talking about but when looking at the installation page for the game via the GoG application within your library there is a bigger blue button option for installing the game via the GoG program, but this (like EA Origin for example) is a client that seems to require internet access to boot the game. There is even a fine print disclaimer regarding this. However at the bottom of the installation page there is a smaller clickable/hyperlink style phrase at the bottom of that same page that says something like ‘download the backup version’ or whatever. It essentially is a way to install the game to your actual computer like you would using the CD back in the day or from a downloaded digital iso file. I installed the game via both methods (GoG client AND the .exe file download st the bottom of the page and I have no issues at all. Its also worth noting that when i tried it, the dowloads tab at the bottom of my browser kept saying it fails but if i clicked the small arrow next to it and hit ‘resume’, itd continue the download (out of some 756 Mb?). It did that at least 9-10 times. I just kept hitting resume til the whole file had downloaded. I also made sure not to click the ‘open when done’ option of the download since that messed it up too.

TLDR: Uninstall it, go to the game in GoG library, and maybe try to download the game both ways?

*Im running the game on Windows 10 via bootcamp on a Macbook Pro. No issues.
I'm constantly running into crashing issues when trying to launch the game. The .exe file keeps falling over... I'm running in compatibility mode as well. Weird thing is, it used to run quite well but recently cannot get it to launch at all.

Same isssue, I have installed as recommended above and tried the video file renaming trick, compatibility mode to 7 and XP SP3 it just will not load, a small text file called 0_Error gets created as soon as I click on the exe, however it is blank.
