I would like to develop my own extensions on Empire Dawn of the modern world. Do you know if and how I could get the source code ? This game is very old and I think that it's possible to have it.

I can't say that's entirely possible, but the best bet would be reverse engineering the exe and files.
You'll have to reach out to anyone that has done that kind of work.

For a start you may try to contact the person who made the following exe patcher for zoom adjustments.

If you are interested in a modern spiritual successor to Empire Earth/Empires DMW, Check out Empire Eternal on Steam. It's a one man project that is modernizing/recreating Empire Earth. It's open for wishlisting, and MicroProse is the publisher. I'm stoked and can't wait for it to release. No ETA atm though, but progress looks great.

I hope around or after it launches it comes to GoG too.
