Empire Earth 2 has EE2.eu Lobby: https://ee2.eu/patch/

They're integrated in the game after installing the patches. You can then access by "Multiplayer" -> "Internet", just as it was done originally.

I'm developer of Unofficial Patch 1.5 for Empire Earth 2, so I can say a bit more about it. The new Multiplayer services use the unique "MonaNAT" technology, which in case of connection problems (e.g. when both players, host and the joiner are behind the symmetric NAT) can route traffic between players, using one of several servers placed around the World. Thanks to that when players are unable to establish a stable direct connection, they will still be able to connect (nearly 100% chance) using MonaNAT. All this process is done automatically.
Empire Earth 2 has a very small Multiplayer community, but the quality of EE2.eu services is very good. Since 2015 there were no long downtimes. It's a server that is running 24/7, 365 days in year with no surprises.
