Empire Earth's graphics have been glitching out a lot, the overall type of graphical glitch varies but it ranges from a few lines across the screen to being unable to see anything due various flashes of of color and such. It only seems to happen in the campaign and whenever I load a save game its fine until I open the objective/game-info menu and opening/reopening it will sometimes make it worse or clear it up a bit.

i tried putting up a screenshot but i wasn't able to for some reason.

While I wait for a reply to my own issue and since no one else has helped you yet, I figure there's no harm in trying to assist you. :P Worst case scenario is I won't succeed and you'll still be stuck with the same problem.

First and most critical thing that jumps to mind is that it sounds like artifacts due to an overheating or dying GPU. So the most pressing question would be: does this happen in any other games? Have you recently played anything else with 3D graphics of any kind that also suffers from similar issues? And does your GPU temp (if readable) show within normal tolerances?

If that checks out, then the next question would be whether you have the latest version of your drivers, and whether you've tried running the game in various compatibility modes, and as administrator?

I don't suppose you have Nvidia graphics cards??

I had the same problem. If you go into the 'Game Settings' under 'Graphics', change the 3D Acceleration from 'Direct 3D', to 'Direct 3D Hardware TnL'. This solved my problem. Hope it solves yours :)

that was in fact the problem, thanks.
I had the same problem, but Direct 3D Hardware TnL did not solve it.

Same here bro, switching didn't help. I've even gone so far as to turn off the nvidia card all together and nothing. I've tried every compatibility mode there is and still bupkiss. GeForce GTx650m Windows 8.1.

Now that I've messed with it I can't even get to the settings menu without it freezing on me :( someone pls!
i guess in two years time we just have to give up on old EE, since it looks like it's only gonna get worse from here. I can't imagine it will magically start working in Windows 9
The problem is that most of new computers have a integrated GPU: Intel HD.
If you are lucky and you have a second graphics card (for example from Nvidia), try the solutions from this topic:
http://easywinclan.forummotion.com/t1707-ee1-empire-earth-and-empire-earth-the-art-of-conquest-windows-8-81-fix
Especally SOLUTION 2.

99% of problems with Empire Earth (and also Empire Earth II) are bad Intel HD drivers. We should somehow force Intel to fix it...
I think a big part of the problem might just be the DirectX dlls for both the game, maybe if someone fixed those we wouldn't need to get fixed drivers?

But what files you want to "fix"? With NVIDIA and all other graphics cards - EE1 and EE2 work fine. I don't think any .dll HEX modification could help, it's defective drivers problem :/

I see... oh well, guess i just gotta wait and get intel to fix the issue, or get a new computer atleast :(
