Ok, so I downloaded EE1, it checked integrity of installer, installed fine, I went to run it, but it started in 800x600, so I set it to my laptops native resolution of 1280x800, but all other settings were already set to highest - so I went to to go make a map, and attached is what I get. So I went play random scenario and it had the same problem - black screen and only text showing up (but the text is overwriting older text without removing it)

These are my specs:

HP Compaq 6710b:

2.00ghz Core 2 Duo
3GB DDR2 RAM
Intel GMA x3100
500GB Seagate SSD hybrid hard drive

I know the x3100 isn't a good card, but I can run Tiberian Wars, Rise of Nations, C&C generals all decently (both C&C ones on lower settings).

So what can I do to fix it?

Windows 7?

If you can, try to set it back to 800x600. Then see if you can get Windows to reset your whole desktop to 800x600. And then try running it.

And as always, don't install stuff in Program Files and you'll want to run as admin. You may also want to play with compatibility settings.
I'm having the same problem. I use windows XP

Sorry for late reply...

Nope, I use XP, but will Program files matter on it as well?

No. Program files is not protected in Windows XP. I'm guessing there's a graphics card issue. Do the classic updating of drivers and junk. Besides that, I'm lost. I haven't found anything on the googles. I remember getting the same glitch on my own machine periodically -- like it wouldn't load up or something. But I only had it a few times and it went away on its own. Sorry for the lack of help.
