Hello, I played EE2 and AoS like some 10 years ago and recently I grabbed Empire Earth 2 Gold Edition again on GOG, but I noticed two annoying problems:

Firstly, I cannot launch the original Empire Earth II, but the Art of Supremacy (EE2X) can be launched normally. For original EE2, the game would just bounce back to desktop after displaying EE2 splash picture, with no error message or anything elese.

Secondly, for Art of Supremacy, the major resource piles on the map (stones, gold, iron, oil, uranium, etc.) all appears in gray, textureless appearance, which obviously not a normal phenoemnon. I tried to adjust the video settings, but it does not have any effect.

I wonder if anyone else has a similar problem with me? And is there a resolution? Thanks a lot in advance!

What graphics card do you use?

Gog has recently changed some things in game (probably without testing on all configurations), so that might be the issue. From what I remember they now force some DirectX wrapper which causes more problems than help. You can check it by visiting Game Settings -> Graphics. If the graphics card name visible there is incorrect, then that's it.

If you want to get rid of all these problems, you can try Unofficial Patch 1.5: https://ee2.eu/patch/ which additionally supports the newest Windows versions (10, 11), Directx 9 and all screen resolutions.

If you have the Intel HD graphics card, you might need to enable a "Fix for graphics bugs..." as shown in the screenshot below:
