I've been trying to play empire earth with a buddy of mine via the lan option. We are using hamachi as well since we don't live near each other. The problem we're having is that whenever he or I try to start a lan game (everything is selected and we clck the start game button) he ends up getting kicked out to his desktop. He has Vista 64 bit and I am using XP 32 bit. He can play the game just fine in single player mode without crashes as can I. It just seems to be the multiplayer setup. It seems like others have got this setup working from the general reading I've done on the net but I haven't quite come across a solution for this problem yet.
I was just curious if anyone has had a similar experience. Oh and by the way we tried both the art of conquest and standard game choices and no dice.
Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.
Might be an issue with Hamachi.
Try playing in GameRanger instead. You can make private games for just you and your friend, or allow others to join.

I have the same problem with Win Vista 64. I tried to select default LAN interface and game started. When I selected Hamachi interface game crashed. I was curious so I tested it also on Win 7 64 and everything went ok.
I don't know what else I can do (compatibility modes and start as admin doesn't work). Somewhere between Hamachi, Vista and EE lies the problem but where :) and how to dissolve it without leaving Hamachi?

For everyone reading this, gameranger is a capitalistic piece of software aiming for your money, try save-ee.com for a free lobby. (Gameranger also free but for several features you have to pay shitload of money.)

I have the same problem with XP. So it seems the issue lies solely between hamachi and EE

It seems to me that the network adapter priority and the metric is the thing that matters. Be aware that this is system setting so it can be potentially hazardous with no guarantee. I have moved the virtual hamachi adapter to the top (adapters and binding in network advanced setting) and changed the metric of it from 9000 to 10. Don't forget you must be in class C network type (it can be done only in hamachi up to version 2.* (excluding) as far as I know) in order to make connection with another player.

Anyway.. it is not very user friendly for most of my friends so we switched to the latest version of Tunngle and it is working well so far.
