How to Use the DX12 Version of Elex II on GOG
This post is mainly for those who are unaware of the DX12 patch or are wondering how to access it in the GOG version of Elex II.
The good news first:
Despite what some posts online may claim, the GOG version of Elex II did eventually receive the DX12 update.
It’s just not prominently visible, instead it’s quietly included in the game files.
Here’s how to find it:
Navigate to your Elex II installation directory.
Open the DX12 folder.
Inside, you’ll find another folder called system.
There you’ll see the DX12 executable.
For example, the path might look like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\ELEX II\DX12\system
Simply create a shortcut to that executable, and voilà: enjoy noticeably improved performance.
In my case, DX12 nearly doubled the frame rate compared to DX11.
