I'd like to share a tip I picked up a while ago. I can't remember where I got this from, apologies to the person I stole this bit of advice. When you finish the tutorial, you will be asked to finalize your character before leaving the dungeon. Save at this point. Now when you want to make a new character, you don't need to go through that bit of the game. Just load the save, make your changes and leave.

That's what we've all done (at least) since Morrowind. But there're well done mods that allow players to skip the main quest altogether -- I prefer Alternative Start by Robert Evrae.

... and you can easily download (from Nexus, for example) a savegame from the sewer exit.
