I had trouble with it as well. I had significantly more luck with OpenMW.

Do you have GOG or Steam version? If Steam, you need MCP to redate the BSAs.

I'm been playing Morrowind Rebirth.
This adds all kinds of new places, updates a bunch of other stuff, but what it does not do it upgrade the graphics.

I would suggest you also use the morrowind code project as it is expected with this mod.

Second, I would suggest the morrowind patch project. It is also highly recommended and the mod kind of expects that you will install that as well.

If you want the updated shaders, lighting, and graphics then you will want to install MGE, Morrowind graphics extender. It is MGE XE. You should be able to find all of them on the usual places.

Finally, my personal preferences are for GCD 1.08 which changes the level up system and Fair Magicka Regen v2B.
