Just a comment to those struggling with Crash to Desktop (CTD), corrupted save files or other errors. There are apparently many legacy mods that are hard coded to use the old steam based AppData path.

"SkyUI SE - Flashing Savegames Fix" is one mod that revealed a discrepancy in the way GOG Galaxy and Vortex open Skyrim. Others are SKSE and SkyHUD / MoreHuD.

Now that I know my CTD is related to the Local AppData path, I can deal with that. But hopefully these issues will will be ironed out over time.
Sorry to hijack your topic but this forum isn't letting me create a new topic after I click create new topic it just sits at the processing screen yet I can reply to topics and edit them without a problem. But far be it to let me create a topic. I made sure thee are no special characters and no links. I'm tired of reading people post no links instead of understanding people not able to create topics aren't using links..

So I have to use a reply to post my question because I need this answered and hopefully someone sees this.

I have 2 Questions about the Skyrim Anniversary edition:
This involves the reset skill feature that was supposed to be in the legendary edition, that never actually existed. I read that the anniversary edition is supposed to have a feature from the legendary edition which was Supposedly once you maxed out a skill, you were supposed to be able to rest said skill.

The problem I have with that is the legendary edition never had any such feature. As usual Bethesda would say something was included, then not include any instructions on how to use the feature, then complained their forums were being flooded with complaints about why they blatantly lied about a feature they said was included, but never implemented.

From my understanding, to reset a skill, all you had to do was max out a skill, then go into the skills menu, highlight the skill itself, exit the skills menu, then go back in and highlight it again and all the points would be refunded. That was the only information Bethesda gave which obviously that piece of information was and still is 100 percent false because you can't change anything without an onscreen confirmation or option to select, which in this case doesn't exist.

Well, come to find out, it wasn't something you could ever do in the first place.

So now that leads me to
Question 1
Does the anniversary edition finally include the reset skill feature? Supposedly once a skill was at max level you were supposed to be able to somehow reset it in the legendary edition but it was never implemented so no one could ever do it

Question 2
If there finally is a rest skill option, has anyone been able to do it, and how exactly did they do it.

Right now it's the same exact situation, No instructions and no option anyone can find that anywhere that allows you to reset a skill

@scintilion
SkyUI SE - Flashing Savegames Fix and SkyHUD are interface replacers, it don't have scripts or .DLL, it don't load/write data in MyGames or AppData at all.

moreHUD - it creates a log for debugging purposes in Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SKSE if the directory doesn't exist, it will be created no matter if you have Skyrim on Steam or not.
moreHUD has a *optional* profile export/import feature, this feature requires "FISSES" or "PapyrusUil", they are not available to GOG 1.6.659, so this feature will not work.
That means whenever you *start a New Game*, moreHUD will be in default settings.

In any of these cases, CTD should not happen.

The skill reset feature, a.k.a."legendary skill system" was added in free update 1.9 / March 2013. After reaching 100 in any skill, press SPACE, see:

See video date...yes, this feature works perfectly on old Skyrim, Skyrim Legendary, Skyrim Special, Skyrim Anniversary... seriously, it works on all of them.
Without this feature, you can only unlock 80 perks (level 81).
With this feature, there is no maximum level, so you can get all 251 perks.

Except it doesn't even come close to working perfectly.
Why can't you people ever provide any actual instructions when asked. All you did was talk a lot then link a useless video which doesn't show anything that matters. There is absolutely nothing in your reply that matters because the process on how to actually reset the skill HAS STILL NOT BEEN UNEXPLAINED.

That video you linked just shows some text about the patch, shows the skill screen, then magically some message about reset shows up.

I call bullshit on that it works perfectly. No it doesn't! a feature that works perfectly requires there to be instructions with it which this didn't have. As a direct result of not having instructions, no one was, and still is able to reset their skills through this mechanic. Bethesda is famous for wasting programing by never providing any instructions on how to actually use what they claim they implement into their games.

The reset skill mechanic was implemented so badly that all it did was piss people off. It's just as bad as how they implemented Dawnguard and Hearthfire.

Skyrim's whole joining factions was working just fine until Dawnguard where Bethesda completely changed how to join factions and it prevented anyone from even enjoying Dawnguard.

Someone wrote a whole piece on how badly Zenimax not only destroyed a perfectly good system of joining factions, but also got people so fed up that it lost it's entire fun factor that by the time people did know what to do, it was already too late they wanted nothing to do with the expansion. If you google
Well thanks Bethesda for screwing up yet another DLC for me

it's on gameas forum

As you read it you will see exactly what the issue with it.

The bottom line here is that Zenimax constantly screws up major things in their games in groups of 3 and they've done it in every game they put out.

Despite there no mention of it at all, the start of Hearthfire was via a courier message. Courier messages are specific for word walls and nothing else, so eventually people stopped reading them because they had all of the shouts, So you would just ignore that altogether..furthermore you wouldn't ever know what note it was.

Furnishings for a house
Took me 3 weeks real time to actually learn how to buy furnishings for my house because They had go talk to Insert NPC about buying a horse), and buy a horse was right in that NPC's topic title, Go talk to (Insert NPC) about buying a house, adn buy a house was right in that NPC's topic title. Now come time to BUY furnishings for the house, you were told to go talk to (Insert NPC) about buying furnishings for your house, but when you got there, there was no topic title that NPC's dialog like there was supposed to be.

Broken Side quest in Shivering Isles
I couldn't complete the first 6 quests in Shivering isles because Zenimax decided to put an item onto a class specific item that unless you were that class you wouldn't pick it up, but even if you did pick it up, there is no possible way of knowing what has to be done so you wouldn't ever know. On top of that, the item you were supposed to find was being descried as a welylkin stone.

The only thing Zenimax keeps consistent, is that they continually go against exactly how the programming method they create with all the other things, except one.

Sounds like you are not happy. Maybe you could find another game to play and come back to Skyrim after a time. Will it change everything you dislike? No. But perhaps it wont be as important in your life to ruin your spirit. Which is the opposite of what gaming is supposed to be.

In case you do want to try something different, but happen to be light of cash. Try my Potato PC thread. An entire list of free games. I think Thief and Stalker Anomaly should be nice for first person free games.

Hope that helps calm your nerves a little.

In the video, he pressed space. The space bar. On your keyboard. Just like TAGma said. The real travesty here is if you have a controller, it'll tell you to press the Y button, which apparently has never worked (on PC). You have to press space.
