dluketic: The game is such a let down. I wonder if the original is better.
There was indeed a secret door in the entrance hall and it opened a large labyrinth and even cheating the daedra in the end killed me, after spending a good 2 hours on it and forgetting to save. So that's the end for me playing this... "game".
Started as a sorcerer class. You can't even use destruction spells because they do no damage and you're oom before a skeleton is dead. Idk how to regenerate mana, probably only outside.
It's absolutely made for melee bashers with some self heals, but even playing a warrior the initial imp kills me in 2 shots.
Idk if the original game is like that, I'm guessing no, but this unity version is completely out of balance.
I loved Ultima Underworld back in the day, never played Daggerfall.
The Unity version at least is way too hard.
Pitty, what a waste of life. I feel so bad right now.
Everything you are describing is from classic Daggerfall. Unity actually fixes a bunch of problems that made classic harder. You are also playing it with mods which fixes even more stuff.
Thing is, this game is designed around tabletop rpg mechanics. The imp kills you fast because it uses spells and you failed a save-vs-spell roll.
Also, most default classes are unfortunately pretty terrible. Sorceror for example, has to absorb magic from enemies, making it really hard to be able to cast spells. Spell casters in general follow the old trope of being really hard in the beginning and becoming completely overpowered in late game.
If you ever want to give this a shot again, try selecting the Ranger class or the Spellsword class as these are default classes without any big design pitfalls for new players.
