Are the Save Games compatible or importable from the original Game?
I have a 30 Hours Save Game and it would be cool to proceed :D
This question / problem has been solved by petchemaimage
Do you have previous Daggerfall Unity saves, or DOS saves? If it's the former, then I can confirm that my previous DU saves showed up on the GOG Cut release.
I have the DOS Version.
Ok, i put the old Files in the Folder and by pressing on Classic in the Loading Screen, they do appear.
But i am getting an Error: "Could not open classic save Index 0". (or 1,2,3 etc. depending the Slot)

Anyone a Solution :) ?

You must be using the DOS version installed by the Bethesda launcher, it's not compatible with Daggerfall Unity (missing some files).
https://forums.dfworkshop.net/viewtopic.php?t=3813

To fix that you need to install a supported classic Daggerfall setup (say unpack DaggerfallGameFiles.zip), copy your game saves (SAVE0 to SAVE5 subdirectories) inside it, and make Daggerfall Unity point at that new installation (click on "< Restart" at the top of the launcher to re-select the installation to use)
Hmm i have the Version from Gog.
But it seems to be a Version Problem, there is a Link mentioned in you Link to a Installer with Version .213.
I'll take a look how to manage it running and Post a Description here, as it seems possible to update you old DOS Save Games to the newer Version.
I just did a little experiment: I launched DFU, clicked "play", which displays the intro and then takes you to a loading screen where you see a list of saved games (in DFU format) on the left hand size and can choose "load" or "classic". If you select one of the games and click "load", you play the selected game in DFU. But if you click "classic", then a new list of savegames is displayed on the left hand side - which are savegames from classic Daggerfall. If you load one of these, it seems to get loaded in DFU, too.
There were a couple of confusing things:
- The classic savegame is one from the exit of the starter dungeon (inside), but DFU loads it to a position outside of the starter dungeon. By the way: When I loaded a classic savegame from inside the Fighters Guild in Daggerfall, I arrived right outside the city gates of Daggerfall. Seems to indicate that DFU handles locations differently.
- When I save the loaded game again, and then return to the loading screen, I see a new "list" of savegames containing the new save only.

Be this as it may, it might be worth trying to load a classic DF savegame in DFU classic mode - perhaps this does convert the classic game to DFU?
Perhaps others have made their own experiences?
If you're confused, do not say Daggerfall Unity loads classic Daggerfall saves, but instead that it can import them.
It's not able to update classic saves, only interpret classic saves (not always perfectly accurately, as you've discovered), and then you can save your progress as Daggerfall Unity saves.
I'm not confused, and I never said that playing a classic Daggerfall game in DFU is the same as playing it in classic Daggerfall. To the contrary (if I may quote myself): "If you select one of the games and click 'load', you play the selected game in DFU." Please note that DFU uses the word "load" rather than "import". What's your point?

The question I tried to answer was if it's possible to continue to play classice Daggerfall games in DF Unity - which seems to be the case when you use the method I described.
Yes, that's how you can resume classic games in DFU.
Limitations, workaround, etc: https://forums.dfworkshop.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2360&p=27540#p27540
Thanks for the link - it explains the observations I described above.
Ok, i have Version 1.7.0.213.
I just tested to load and resave in DOS Daggerfall and to load the Save Game than in Unitiy, but the same Error occurs.

I've loaded the Daggerfall Version from here https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
Tried the same, but it didn't help.

So i am out of Ideas.

At that point I have to assume there's something incompatible or not yet supported in those saves.
Best you could do is zip the SAVE# subdirectories (or at least a failing one, assuming they're all failing for the same reason), and attach it to a post in the support forum for analysis

Hm, I followed your description (as I understood it, and I used the Morthag savegame i found in the Daggerfall Save Games link from uesp), and everything worked fine.
There are a few potential explanations and things you could try:
- Corrupted Daggerfall installation: un- and re-install, and try again.
- Galaxy (if you're using Galaxy): Try the direct download version.
- Generally: Does the same problem occur when you point DFU at a DaggerfallSetup installation and try to "convert" the same savegame?

It might also be useful to check the details of the process you described. What I did was:
- Downloaded the savegame and extracted it into a SAVEx folder in my (classic) Daggerfall folder, the one DFU is linked with.
- Loaded the file in classic DF (worked fine), and then in DFU, using "classic" loading (worked fine, too).
- Played the game in DFU for a moment, and saved it in DFU.
- Reloaded the newly saved game in DFU (using "load" loading in DFU), and played the game for a moment.
All these steps worked as they should. Of course, the new DFU save won't load in classic DF nor would it appear on the DFU "classic" load list.

I found even an pretty early save game from the same Charakter (i back up them often), i am also not able to import that.

As said, i have the Gog Version of the Game and i downloaded the Daggerfall Setup Installer from https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files and tried to over save here, as it is also patched and a fresh install.

Here is a Link to the Save Game:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlSD11DCjpjwhtMMWLXcOPWLrPnjmQ?e=0azUTY

I also tried to change the Source of the Game in Unity.
Okay, they're mods getting in the way. Disable mods:
- Fixed Dungeon Exteriors
- UBLaMF - Map Blocks addon
- Unofficial Block, Location and Model Fixes

(the latter 2 if your copy of GOG Cut still has those) and you should be able to import your classic saves.
You can re-enable them later if you want.

I reported the issue to the mod authors.
