So, i somehow can't get warm with Daggerfall Unity.
I am about 35 Hours into the original Release via Dosbox and i love it.
So i hunger for MORE Content, to get the Most out of it.

But, i can't get into it, everything is killing me, besides having a imported Charakter with good Gear.
I am not sure why, is it harder (some search in the Internet says yes, though different not bugged Calculation of Damage).

I also do not understand how the Combat works in the Unity Version, as the whole Camera moves while you swing your Weapon.

Does anyone maybe had the same Issues and have some Suggestions, how i can tweak the Game to make it more classic / entry level friendly etc :)

Would be a real Shame, to not have all those great Content Modifications.

Solution:

Turn down the Reflex Speed in your SaveData.txt.

"reflexes": "VeryHigh",
"reflexes": "High",
"reflexes": "Average",
"reflexes": "Low",
"reflexes": "VeryLow",

I had High in classic, now i am on Low and it feels samy.

Turn off the new Enemy Behaviour.

Turn down "Realistic Mods", if using the Gog Cut.

If using and older Save Game, try:
reroll_maxhealth

Different Weapon and Armor Stats are caused by an Bug of Daggerfall Classic.
They act the same, as it calculates them correctly in Classic, only a Displaying Bug.

The first three Changes made it for me.
The Rest is just a faster running Game and Feeling.

Might be settings related. You can set the weapon swing mode on the first DFU screen (bottom right) to Click, Hold or Vanilla. Vanilla should work like in classic DF, Click is probably easiest to use. I've never used Hold.
Yeah, i think the most problematic Thing is, that Enemies are killing me rapidly with about 2-3 Hits.
if i compare the Stats of my Daedric Dagger and Armor to the original, they seem weaker and the Enemies hit faster, put out more Damage and take more Hits.

Tested it with the Enemies that spawn with the Protection Quest of the Fighters Guild.

But also Gargoyles kill me with a few Hits.

My Charakter is Level 12 and armed with Elven Armor and above.

I do not Struggle much in the original Game with that Char :>

Well, I never noticed any differences between classic DF and DFU in this respect. Perhaps because I set the weapon swing mode to click? My camera never moves during fights unless I want it to move (for example, to look up or down).
On the other hand, level 12 doesn't sound bad, given that "everything is killing me".

Well, that Character is leveled in the original Game and imported into Unity, thats why i am so confused, that everything is killing me :)
I even found a command to reroll Health, but this actually gave me less Health :>

I think the Enemies are just hitting faster (very much so).

Does anyone know an Option or Command Line to make it slower, as possible to choose while creating a new Character?

I also searched within the Save Files, as they are pretty open and readable in Unity, but haven't found a Row that sounds like "Attack Speed".
Are you using the GOG Cut? If so, it comes packed with a bunch of mods which might be affecting your experience. Generally speaking, classic Daggerfall is much harder than DFU.

If you are using GOG Cut, maybe try out using normal DFU without mods instead?
Tried it just yesterday :)
They are slaughtering me very fast in a few hits.
I can attack barely one time and my life is gone (i have 66 Hit Points).

I think it is really their Attack Speed, it is so crazy high.

Edit: I found that you can lower the Reflex in the savedata, will try it out when i am at Home tonight and give Feedback.
Edit2:

SaveData.txt can be edited to those ones:

"reflexes": "VeryHigh",
"reflexes": "High",
"reflexes": "Average",
"reflexes": "Low",
"reflexes": "VeryLow",

This helped a tiny bit, but they are still slaughtering me, i can't survive two Enemies in a Row.
They are even one hitting me -.-
Meanwhile i wiped a whole Dungeon in the original and killed a Dragonlin there.

As i tested it with the Gog Cut again, i shut off the two Realistic Mods and did better.
They are still faster than in the original, but now it seems managable

Well, if you insist in playing the GOG Cut, then you shouldn't be surprised to see differences between this game and classic Daggerfall. But, if you don't like them, don't blame Daggerfall Unity. And accept that the thread title is incorrect: You can't get warm with the Daggerfall GOG Cut, not with Daggerfall Unity.
Like Ralzar said, if at all, unmodded DFU is easier than classic DF.

It's your decision.

As i mentioned, i also tried it with a blank Unity and i also got slaughtered.
The faster Movement and new Enemy Behaviour was the main Reason.

Turned down the "Reflex" Speed and turned off everything new in the Enemy Behaviour was the Solution,
the Rest is just something to adopt about the faster Feeling in the new Engine.

Edit:

I will edit the Entry Post, seems like i forgot to Edit my last Post and i reads as it didn't got better.
This truly could help others with the same Issue, when imported a Character from Classic.
