I remember this problem from playing last time now, but it "seems" to have gotten worse as I've only played a few hours yet the stilt rider person in Balmora is already standing on air.

IIRC it's a long time known problem (Another example is the trader in Seyda Need keeps moving left as you face him to the point where he will go through the wall at some point.

But I seem to recall there was a console command to reset them. You had to be in that area, bring up the console (I think I remember the right key for that, it's the tilde key IIRC. And then type in the command.

But I can't remember the command. Anyone know it??

IIIRC what happens is every time an area is loaded from some reason some NPC's "move" a little. And they continue to move a little each time in the same direction until you end up with strange results, like the "driver" of the stilt rider in Balmora having moved toward the city so far he's gotten past the top of the platform is standing on air. LOL

NEVER MIND! I found it in some of my old notes. RA. You simply make sure you're in the area where they need to be "fixed" and open up the console and type RA. I tried it and it worked. The travel person in Balmora is no longer standing on air.

Coudl dtgreene maybe post something in here? anything at all so I could mark it as a solution since he answered my last question (FAST Travel fills up health and magicka) but forgot to mark that as a quesiton.

Sorry of all of this nonsense. It's just I'm really getting into the game and want things "right". LOL

This question / problem has been solved by dtgreeneimage
After more than 13 years the bug that causes NPCs to slightly move has been finally fixed by modders.

If you prefer vanilla animations and you just want to fix the NPCs drifting, you can use the files from the following post:

http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1524916-show-us-what-you-are-working-on-50/?p=24141500

However the files from the link above are incompatible with animations from other mods, so if you are using mods like "Animation Compilation" or "Dirnae's Beast Animations", etc. you might want to get instead the compilation of several improved animations (that includes also this particular fix for the drifting) from the following post:

I suppose I could.

Just so that this post has some content (even if not really relevant to the original post in this topic), here's why having insanely high Speed (like in the thousands or higher via means such as the Super Potion trick) might not be a good ida, in order:
1. It becomes hard to control your character.
2. Collision detection starts to fail. In particular, the game only checks for collision every so often, so if you are moving fast enough, it is possible to go through a wall because the game doesn't check collision between when you reach the wall and when you are all the way through it. It is possible to go out of bounds this way.
3. Eventually, I believe the game may not be able to handle such high speeds, and may crash, especially if you are levitating at such ridiculous speeds.

(Also, my pronouns are she/her.)

Edit: Add note about the game crashing to point 3.

I am very, very sorry. Despite considering myself an "anti-sexist", sexist attitudes still pop up. And assuming a gamer is a "he" is no less sexist than assuming a house cleaner or a nurse is a "she" or a Doctor is a "he." My sincere apologies.

Since I had this thread marked as a favorite, it always shows up at the top without having to go through pages to find it. I installed and modded this game and was having a blast in January/Feb of 2025 but then in March my computer suffered a critical disc failure and I lost everything. (Windows had to be reinstalled from scratch). So now when I felt like playing again, I had to search everywhere and re-learn the mods and settings I liked. I am putting this info here for merely my own personal purposes so that if it happens again, I can come here, the post will be at the top, and I can quickly read this to remind myself of the steps I took.
