The problems seem to be isolated to the Special Edition version (which is what GOG sells) and only in English. It works fine when switched to German and also in the English non-special edition as seen here:

BIG SPOILERS

Until Daedalic/GOG fix it, you'll have to watch it in that video after watching the seeing the broken version on your computer.
Yeah, this is a major bug considering it's the climax of the entire game.
Sometimes I feel like they didn't even test the English version.

Has anyone heard from the developers about a patch or fix?
There was a patch to Harvey's New Eyes recently, but for some reason Daedalic doesn't seem to care much about fixing the GOG version of The Breakout.

Luckily I understand German well enough that I could switch to German and enjoy the ending cutscenes. But I understand that it's a huge problem to those who don't understand German and it should be fixed ASAP. Another major English version bug is in lunch menu puzzle, which I was able to solve without switching to German version, by doing things in exactly right order.
For those who have not played the game yet and want a spoiler-free description of what is wrong with the credits, here's the problem (at least this is what's happening on my machine):

For the finale of the game, you can make two different choices to end the game.

Pick option one, and descriptions of what happens to several of the game's characters are missing in addition to the credits.

Pick option two, and the descriptions of what happens to the characters (mostly a different set of characters) are there, but the credits are still missing.

As the ending clarifies several interesting plot points and as it somewhat sets up the storyline of the Edna and Harvey sequel, you will almost certainly want to either watch the credits in German if you can read that language or look for a video clip of the endings (like the one SirPrimalform was kind enough to post).

(I downloaded the latest version of the game from GOG and installed on June 22, 2014, so the issue still exists as of that date.)
