Hey guys,
I'm having some troubles with EWJ... I don't remember having this problem with the Windows version I've had. Whenever I try to shoot to the top left, it just won't let me, it only allows shooting to the left. I can shoot to the top-right just fine.
Is this a problem with the game?
Thanks.

It's working fine for mere here. I can shoot in the directions without issue.
Do you have any global hotkeys in windows bound?, and/or have you tried to remap the control config?
Don't have any hotkeys, I tried remapping, didn't seem to do anything.
Tried reinstalling with totally removing every EWJ files?

I got the same problem after remapping the controls. See if returning them to default fixes it. Rebinding fire back to the spacebar seems to have fixed the problem for me.

I haven't touch controls config at all. :(
I had a similar problem while using a controller. Assuming you're using a controller too, as opposed to keys, you can try downloading xpadder and configuring your controller with that. As long as it's running while you're playing the game, it should alleviate the problem.

Vagabond Did you try updating DOSBox to 0.73 with this game ?
This fixes it at my place.

Yeah, it's all updated.
LOL you can't shoot to the top left? I can't shoot to my bottom right! :P
Strange problem. I can shoot to my top left just fine, but I can't open fire when aiming bottom right. I don't remember having this issue when I played it at a younger age. Kinda frustrating, the game just took away a good 20 minutes of my play time and this isn't the only bug I've encountered. I couldn't even get past the first stage because of some bugs.
guess I got to fire up a debugger and check ewj keyboard handler

You're so damn sexy
It's a hardware limitation of some keyboards. This is known as key ghosting or key jamming.
Certain combination of keys won't register; the number of keys you can simultaneously press may vary. This is a common hardware issue on almost all keyboards on the market. It's not noticeable for normal use, but it is a problem for gaming. Pressing W+E+D at the same time is one of the ways to test this.
The reason for this was to reduce the cost of keyboards by using a cheaper matrix layout inside keyboard. Some heavy keyboards in the 80's were expensive and didn't have the key ghosting issue (such as the Zenith ZKB-2 I've owned for a decade now. lol)
Avoiding this issue includes using a high-end keyboard with full "n-key rollover" capability, old model-M type keyboards via PS/2 port (adapter possibly needed), or a game controller/pad.
