Hi, I'm using a PS2 controller with a (new) PC adapter and it's not working well. Using Windows 7 x64. I've tried setting timed=false and joysticktype=4axis (and 2axis for kicks) to no avail. When I start up the game, it acts like all the direction buttons are being pressed at once so I can't even properly calibrate it. I've tried another trick someone suggested by plugging in the controller after starting the game up. Nada. The controller would be the superior experience so I don't want to concede to the keyboard just yet.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Had the same problem with the calibration. My solution was JoyToKey it lets you map each button to a keystroke so it sees pressing button 1 as if you pressed the "enter" key. Not the best solution, but it will work.

Another good program is XPadder. I use it for all games that I prefer to play with a joypad.

For what it's worth, I had similar problems with my logitech gamepad. It wouldn't work, so I tried xpadder, joytokey, etc. - with only marginal success.

What worked was deleting the older version of DOSBox (.72) in the EJ folder and replacing it with the newer version (.74). My controller now works just fine.

Just be sure that the new DOSBox folder has exactly the same name as the original: DOSBOX.
You also need to calibrate the gamepad in-game, by the way. Otherwise it might not respond properly.
