Is it like a single player campaign or would you play like multiple games and stuff sort of civ - style? On a related note I had the same sort of question about king of dragon pass so could you guys try to answer that too so don't have to make another forum?
In Eador Genesis
Like in Civ in this game you can play either Singleplayer Campaign or skirmish(custom map like in Civ games) against AI, or against another player in hotseat mod.
here are some good video for Genesis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zo35yiM_0pg

in Eador Masters of the Broken World
There are: hot seat, skirmish and campaign. It also supposed to be a true multiplayer, though as far as I know, it's not implemented yet
As for the MotBW, google videos there are a lot of them.

I didn't understand your fully, rephrase it, maybe?...
Game contains
1) campaign:
First mission is carefully crafted tutorial
All other missions randomly generated maps with cap on available buildings.
2)single player
randomly generated maps without limits.

What I meant to say is does it have one big world like Homm (probably not a good example) or would you randomly generate a world and try to "win" the world like civ. Does the campaign have mission specific objectives and stuff or do you just get placed in a map and try to "win" the map?
The campaign is just a series of random maps with some dialogue and diplomacy in between. There are no scripted maps like in Homm. If you really liked campaigns in Homm that might be bad, but if you are like me and never bothered with the Homm campaigns you will love this campaign.
During the campaign your playing a Halfgood, one of the beings simply called Masters of the Astral, that it struck with amnesia after his "How might it be...to be mortal"-experiment.

One, small, Part of campaign is the "Meta-strategy" that takes place at the Astral.
Here you talk to others Masters, your underling(s)...trying to get as much Infos as possible about your situation, here true diplomacy takes place, here you decide wich shards to attack next and here you administrate the Astral Energy.
(Astral Enegy is the only real Campgainresource, with AE you have to pay for the use of aquired Boni)

The Astral is turnbased to, you can talk as many times you like..but you can attack only one shard/turn.
Either you attack the World of a Master..then you fight only this Master at a random generated Shard (the enemy get several Boni)...if you win...the Master is thrown into the Chaos..and you conquer his World..earning some random Boni.

Aside from the Worlds of the other Masters there're allways some neutral Shards drifting around, you get some Infos for the neutral Shards..like Size, "prizes", Mainterrain, AE/turn,...if you attack...you start a fight for a random(with the Settings you saw at the Astral) Map with a number of enemys depending at the size.

Here Eador is real gem,,a really good mixture of Turnbased-Strategy, Build Up Simu, Rp and turnbased tactic battles.

There're some Events linked to the campgain taking part during the Shardfights but if you play the first campgain and didn't read anything "spoileros" you might miss them without noticing that they aren't one of the "normal" events,
if you win..you get the prizes and some fame...but everything else you did at the shard it completly lost.

At the Astral..you talk to the Masters and your Underling, if necessary..then you attack the next World/Shard, start with nothing again...and so on.

The campgain has two "Problems"
I. Theres only a very, very small conecction beetween the Astral(where the "real" campgain takes place) and the shardfights...but at the shardsfights you will spend your time...hours, even days,...for one Shard...compared to 5-10min talking at the Astral.
II.AE&the Boni you can activate with..could be a intersting part of the Metastrategy ..or add a real one at first ;)
but it takes a reeeaally long time until you have enough income to use it at a regular base...and you need luck to get usefull Boni for you stile of play...my Astral treasury for example is full of traveling staffs&feathered arrows i don't need...

There are some scripted events that happen while working to conquer individual maps (shards) during the campaign, although usually no more than one such event per map. Of course, some of the actions you take while working on each map may affect future campaign events and/or relations with your rivals. The maps themselves are randomly generated within certain parameters*. You'll see some information about each one that's available.

* The exception to this is that the tutorial map always has the same geography.

Yup.

Basically, 95% of the game play is on the tactical maps (shards), which are randomly generated. However, conquest of each shard grants you schematics to build a few additional buildings and maybe one or two other bonuses that you can purchase for a price (a unit or piece of equipment waiting for your hero in his castle).

So, even though the game play on the shards is similar each time, it's not overly repetitive. The Shards get larger (with more opposing AIs and tougher monsters) and your build options (and thus the units you can bring into your army) expand steadily over the course of the campaign. Random events on a shard might influence a campaign, and alignment/karma choices you make (Good vs Evil) on a shard will affect the Campaign game, but the only real impact that Shard-specific things have on the Campaign game is that you need to conquer Shards to bolster your position in the Campaign game and prepare yourself better for the next (tougher) Shard.

The game is VERY deep and very long. I'm 60 hours into my current campaign and am perhaps 1/3 done? 1/2 done?

Could you tell how far through the campaign you are by how many of the potential profile pictures you recognise?

It is possible to complete the game slightly after meeting with Ul-Dagan, it is possible to not meet at least 3 masters - Dragon, Demon and Magnus.

Well, I haven't yet got that far, but you could still gain a general impression of how far through you are.

Eador is really nothing like King of Dragon Pass. In fact, it's hard to explain what KoDP is like to some one who hasn't played it, because there are very few similar games. KoDP is a sort of fantasy tribal management simulator with strong role-playing elements. It's a very good game, IMO, but there's no way to tell how much you'll like it until you try it.
