Has anyone encountered this? Basically I'll be fighting an enemy, I bring its health to zero and it still remains.

It stops the game completely because I can't ever leave the tactical map since the game thinks there is one enemy left. I ended up putting the game on auto combat and even then after a few minutes of my units attacking the unkillable last enemy it still would not die. This is the second time I've gotten this bug, I'm wondering if it was brought out by the recent update.

This is early in the campaign (third shard) on beginner setting (yeah I know I'm a noob!) with the commander as my hero.
Sounds like that wormhole thing someone else described here:

I assume this is Broken World, since in Genesis an unkillable enemy would just yield a combat draw after 40 turns.
Possible workaround: if the remaining enemy is much weaker than your army, run Quick Combat when he's the only one left. Quick combat treats units as numbers, so his invincibility should disappear.

Yeah this is in E:MoBW. It's not really like the wormhole bug you described, basically my units bring an enemy unit to zero health, but rather than the death animation playing and the enemy unit disappearing, it stays on its hex like a ghost just standing there. It'd doesn't attack any of my units, and my units can't attack it when I manually send them to attack it.

When I set the game to auto battle all my units will continuously attack it, but the enemy unit just stands there motionless. I'm forces to quit out of the game because I am blocked from finishing the battle. It's a pretty frustrating bug to say the least!

Well, the enemy is at zero health so he can't do anything. I'll try your suggestion later tonight when I play to see if it resolves the battle. I'll post back my results.

Thanks for the suggestion :]

UPDATE: Well I went back and played through that particular part of the game and the bug didn't show up, so maybe it's a random bug...? I did get a Random Access Violation error after I won the shard however, not sure if it's related or not.

Does Broken Worlds not have the 40 turn limit of Genesis?
I encountered this once as well, reloading the most recent savegame was the solution.

This happened to me twice during the tutorial! >_< (As well as several 'Access Violation' crashes.)
But after the recent update I have not had it happen again. Are you still having trouble?

I encountered the same issue the OP had and tried to use the auto battle to end the fight. The fight resulted in a draw - the game claimed neither side could damager the other, so there must me some kind of turn limit. Then again, this was before the most recent update...

Although this post is totally ANCIENT, I'll respond just for laughs:

I'm playing this game for the first time in the year 2018 and I just encountered this exact same bug.

Solution? Exit game, load save.

BTW, for the record, I'm finding the game to be very stable, generally. But I have a long way to go. Thank goodness (or thank the developers) for the autosave on every turn.

EDIT: aaaand it just happened again, ten minutes ago, same enemy (thief), same situation.

This time, I put the game on automode and went into the kitchen to do some chores.

When I returned the battle had finished as a "defeat" and I rec'd no rewards, although all my troops were still alive and all enemy troops were dead and I did conqure the province.

Solution? Exit game -- but will I ever load it again? At this point I'm not sure.
