I currently only have DL installed on my Win11 PC through Steam.
1) Are there any issues if I were to purchase it and install it through GOG, as well?
2) Will the GOG installation pick up my current DL save file correctly?
TIA..
Update: GOG Tech support answered these questions for me. They stated that you can have both GOG and Steam versions of the same games installed, and then recommended;
1. Make sure you install the GOG version of the game in a different folder than the version from another platform.
2. Most games store save data in shared system folders, so progress may overlap between versions, or one version may not recognize the other's saves depending on differences in how they’re handled and / or different builds of the games.
3. If using both GOG and Steam cloud save systems, it’s possible they might overwrite local saves or cause sync issues. (Consider disabling cloud sync in at least one of the platforms to avoid any potential issues).
4. Game mods, settings files, or third-party tools may behave differently between versions.
My plan is NOT to run both versions simultaneously anyway. I wanted to make sure I could install the GOG version while keeping the Steam version installed, and then make sure my save file transferred over correctly from my Steam version. Once that was done, I would uninstall the Steam version.
