When launching, the game goes to a screen that says 'Dragonshard', then returns back to desktop with a small black box in the centre of the screen, then to a full screen of darkness with the cursor displaying the loading animation, and finally it exits back to the desktop without an error message.


My system is as follows:

AMD A8-3870@3.0GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
8gb RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times (including redownloading) aswell as running it in most compatibility modes, but it always does the same thing. Internet searches are proving unfruitful, so I'd welcome any advice.

I had an identical problem which turned out to be caused by my ati drivers (onboard graphics) being bugged.

Found out because I was playing Dawn of War only two days earlier, and trying to boot it came up with 'could not find splooge driver' which traced to directx which traced to the driver being corrupted somehow.

I am having the exact same problem. I've tried changing compatibility modes and screen resolutions. I have all the most recent drivers for my system, etc., but the game won't go past the title screen...just displays "Dragonshard" for a couple seconds, and then goes back to the desktop.

If it helps, it crashed my computer when I tried to save the game.
I run Windows 8 though.

I'd recommend sending this one to support. Too many people are getting the same problem.

For reference, my copy works fine.
