Hello!

I've trying to get this game running in crossover on mac, and when I try to launch the game I get an error. "Invalid CD-key".

One of the reasons I actually buys games on gog.com is because they are DRM free and makes it easier to run in wine/crossover because the game does not need to activated, have access to a CD or needing cdkeys.
This question / problem has been solved by cogadhimage
Sometimes they get around the DRM by incorporating a default generic key into the install, though I don't know for certain if that's what they did here. Did you perhaps try to install a patch on the game? With some games, doing that re-introduces the DRM that GOG did remove, causing the kind of error you are getting. Patching is unnecessary as all GOG games are already updated to the most current version.
For what it's worth, I used Wineskin (http://wineskin.doh123.com/) to get this running on my Mac. I even used one of the Crossover Games "engines" available for Wineskin. I did not receive the CD-Key error that you got.
Thanks for the replies.
I haven't added any patches.

After some searching I found out that the installer injects a CD key to windows registry.
I'm not very happy about this, but I got it fixed now.
I know it says solved, but this thread doesn't really say how to solve it myself. A little help, please?

EDIT - You can get around this error by running the executable from the install folder as administrator, but I'd like to be able to run it from Galaxy. If there's any help in that respect, I would greatly appreciate it.

EDIT AGAIN - Okay, so once you've found the shortcut that Galaxy uses (Launch Dungeons and Dragons - Dragonshard) right-click it and click on properties. Go to the "Compatability" tab and check the box next to "Run this program as an administrator." Maybe everyone else figured this out without explicit instructions, but here they are in case you're as slow as me.

Still not solved for me. On Win10. Just installed for the first time and I'm getting the same error. Run as admin doesn't help. Any other ideas?
Try setting the games executable AND the shortcut in the Dragon Shard folder to run as administrator. Worked for me (Win 10).

No longer works, due to win 10's constant upgrades, plus, whenever you set the exe file as admin the shortcut automatically inherits the same state as well.

I'm having the same issue. Is there no fix?

WOW. That's the most generic, useless non-solution I've read.
