I'm currently on book 2 of Troy Denning's Prism Pentad, and noticed that the top picture on the GOG storefront is definitely of Rikus (as shown on the book's covers). Are there characters from the series in the games? It'd be fun coming across them once I've finished reading.

Unfortunately, no. The first Darksun game is set in the city-state of Draj, which isn't anywhere near Tyr. The second game, while being set in Tyr, takes place somewhere between the 1st and 2nd books, I believe. You don't run into any of the heroes from the Prism Pentad, and while King Tithian is mentioned here and there, he's currently in seclusion training himself and so he's not encountered anywhere in the game.

Huh, I don't believe GOG ever gave me an alert that there was a reply to my post. Given the timeline of the thread, I'm going to go ahead and blame it on COVID. :)

Anyway, thanks a lot, Zaxares; I appreciate you taking the time (and my apologies for the two+ year delay in expressing my gratitude. (I was just scrolling through my profile and found the question, and wondered if anyone had replied and here you were!) Cheers.

You're welcome! :) The Dark Sun games (especially Shattered Lands) are one of my most treasured gaming memories from childhood, so I swing by here every now and then to see if anyone new is experiencing them. I REALLY wish we'd get another D&D CRPG set in Athas again. :(
Me too! Honestly, I think they still hold up pretty well, and the setting is still interesting and worth revisiting. I'd love to play a modern game in Athas. I was always a lbit surprised it didn't get another treatment once the Neverwinter series hit big.
