In the main menu options menu under gameplay it says there is gamepad support in Dungeon Siege III. When I mark "gamepad support" and hit apply then continue my Logitech Dual Action USB gamepad doesn't work. When I go back into the menu the "Gamepad support" is no longer selected even though I applied the selection. Is this a GOG's thing or am I missing something?

According to PC Gaming Wiki for DS3, only XINPUT controllers are supported:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dungeon_Siege_III#Input_settings

An XInput-based controller would be the Xbox for Windows PC Game Controllers (USB-based) or newer.
A lot of games from XBox platforms or newer only support XInput.

If you're using a DirectInput-based controller (i.e. most controllers before XInput, before the Xbox era started), you might need a 3rd party program to get it going properly.

Now, you have a Logitech controller - some of them, like say the F310, have a button to switch modes b/t XInput and DirectInput. If you have one of those type of controllers, hit the switch until it works. That should do the trick w/ those gamepads.

For games with no support for a certain or specific controller type, I'd use something like Joy2Key, Controller Companion or something of the sort.Run that while running your game and configure the game profiles: set-up its KB/mouse keys to the specific gamepad buttons, analog sticks, and D-pad to your liking.

I actually have an old Dual Action gamepad that is the exact copy of the current F310 minus the input type switch. I guess I'll just stick to the mouse and keyboard control scheme. Thank you though.

Honestly, get Joy2Key and just set it up.

Link here for Joy2Key:

Since I use XInput controllers (i.e. Xbox for Windows USB Controller) mostly these days, I use it for older games w/ problems w/ different control method types, like say MK1+2+3 for GOG - and it works great.

I bet it would work good w/ DS3. Give it a shot.

x360ce could help, it allows a lot of gamepads to be emulated as an Xbox 360 controller: https: //www.x360ce.com/ (remove the space after https)
