I just found out there was a Dungeon Siege 3 when I saw it on Gog, and I jumped at the chance to own the earlier two games. (realized the expansions for them weren't available, but I think I have that covered now).

I decided to play DS3, because I never had before, and while I don't love it, it is a nice game, and something new. However, after about 4 hours of gameplay, I have run into an insurmountable problem.

I have reached the Swamp Battleground, and have rescued Phineas, and he is attempting to raise the land bridge via Geomancy. However, I say attempting, because every time the cutscene plays, it starts raising the bridge, then suddenly freezes and almost locks my computer up.

I have had no problems elsewhere, with the cutscenes or the game itself, even at high texture/video settings. I put the settings on the lowest, and it still does it. I tried restarting my computer, and that didn't work. I also tried reloading the game, starting from an earlier save, making sure nothing else was running, etc... and nothing worked.

I looked online and couldn't find anything that would help me, and sadly, this means that I won't be able to go any further, because this is part of the main quest and not a side quest I could skip.

Has anyone else had issues like this?

While reading a bit in the forums here, I have found out that the DLC I downloaded potentially has problems (I don't use galaxy), and may be missing some files? Could that be an issue, because I think this DLC, from what I read online, is one that inserts itself into the game, rather than being a separate campaign you access from the menu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I really want to finish this game, but as it stands, I can't.

The offline installers for both the game and the DLC have now been updated and are ready to download. Hopefully this new version will fix the problem you're having. Good luck :)

Thank you, I will have to try that and see if it helps. Hopefully I won't have to start over, but if I do, and it works, at least I can finish the game.
*sigh* well, it was a nice idea, but now it won't install at all. None of the files say that they didn't download correctly, but I had it check file integrity, but when it goes to install, it asks me the language I want, then where i want to put the game. When I tell it (and I tried a different area than the original) it goes as if it is going to install, but nothing happens. No bar, no ads for other games, nothing, it just shows the basic 'setup' screen.

Edit: I just closed all my applications, and found a lone window open that wasn't mirrored to the task bar (I hate it when that happens), It said that dungeon siege was successfully removed from my computer. On a whim, I tried to install DS3 and now it is installing.

I don't know whether I will be able to get past that particular part or not (hasn't installed completely yet and I still have the DLC to install) but apparently it didn't like that one little window open *huge sigh*

I just tried it, and it worked fine, got more of the video than I had been (before it only showed the bridge being raised, now it showed the guy doing magic to raise the bridge).

Now I can continue on. Thank you for letting me know that the downloads had been fixed.

So glad it's now working for you :) Enjoy the game, I've just started myself and am looking forward to the journey.
