The game has a habit of dropping treasure that is many levels lower then mine. Anyone know of a mod that fixes this? I did not notice anything on The Nexus website.

For DS 1 and DS2, google this site.

siegetheday.org

I know DS2 has a drop rate / rarity mod there. Don't recall about DS1. Both have plenty of mods there and it's a pretty dedicated site to DS1 and DS2. Don't recall if DS3 was there or not.
.
I should have made it clear that I am referring to Dungeon Siege 2.

I am guessing I need an account to access the downloads section because it says 'access denied'

I tried creating one but then it just says 'unable to send Email'

I will try again at a later date and hope there is something there.

Ok, nevermind. I was able to find all the Dungeon Siege 2 mods on that site. Here is a direct link for anyone who is interested. -->

https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=taxonomy/term/79

I will look through them all and see if I find anything interesting for me. Thank you gog2002x!

You're welcome. I installed a few mods myself and enjoyed it quite a bit, though I did play the original retail version before I knew about mods. While it was fun, the mods certainly refreshed the replay.
.
Damn it, the link I provided no longer works and it still says 'access denied' when I try to create an account. The site is very broken. They have a ton of mods that the Nexus site does not have, and no way to access them.

You're right, they changed for whatever reason. I guess I'm lucky I got the mods before the change. If there was a way to just pass you the mods w/o involving my personal accounts I'd do it.

I wonder why they changed it, since it seemed to be an open community. Also, did you check and see if moddb site has any mods? Just a shot in the dark since I didn't check for DS mods there personally.
.
I just checked ModDB. They have only a few mods that I could find.

If you should happen to find a way to access the mods on siegetheday, please post to this thread. I will do the same.
Right from the beginning the 'level bandwidth' within items could drop was quite large in DS2, and it was one of the early tunings/fixes in the Hotfix / Aranna Legacy Mod to lower the chance to get e.g. a level 20 item from a level 30 monster.
If interested, check Google for: "Aranna Legacy" site:ds2.bplaced.net
(...actually these mods also have a project page on siegetheday.org, but there seem to be some troubles currently!?)

Bascially however the level of a dropped item depends in DS2 on the level of the monster/container it is dropping from.
Now if somebody is 'over-levelled' with a much higher level than the monsters it can be a bit frustrating finding an item one possilbly would wish to have it found already several hours earlier...

One way to 'fix' this is to upgrade/increase the levels of monsters and containers. The LevelAdjustment Mod could do this (some lower on that modding page).
Note that on the official GPG map(s) it will be necessary to explicitly activate this mod in-game - there will be a button on the tresor/stash to do this.

Anyway, since such mods seriously interfere with the game mechanics it would be a good idea to make manual backups of the savegames - you never know. ;)

I recall there's a couple of programs called tank view and tank creator or some name along those lines that let you edit .ds2 files. I'm going by memory, so don't quote me on the file name extensions lol. Anyway, I recall using it to adjust the mod files from DS2 for both drops and inventory (for more pages). I don't recall where I got the programs, but I don't think it was at siegetheday.

Keep in mind, those programs only allow you to open the original file and then repack them (backing up the originals ofc). You still have to figure out the values. Now I could go to the /mod folder and probably copy/paste the text inside the files in case you do end up getting those programs. May be more work than you'd care for, though it would at least give you the values to manually change to basically get the same thing as the mods.

I'm always willing to help in these matters, but it also depends on how time consuming it is. I've spent many hours trying to modify the mods itself, when I could have just used that time to play the game. :)

But we gamers can be funny creatures in our obsessions lol.
.
Ok, the siegetheday site is working again. I already downloaded a few mods from the site.

But as for a mod called 'Monster Level Adjustment', I could not find it on SiegetheDay on any of the 12 pages showing mods. So I just googled it.

I found it here. --->

http://ds2.bplaced.net/mods/#redict=108

I am only interested in the original campaign map and Broken World. Do I need to adjust the gear thing on my stash? I can set it to Local, Disabled, or All. What do I set it to? Do I have to keep setting it each time I launch the game? Will this really help to stop low level treasure from dropping for my high level party?

Does Aranna Legacy do the same thing? Does it do it better? It makes a lot more changes that I am not sure if I am going to be ok with or not though so I am a bit hesitant on this one.

@MikeSol: The best in this case is probably to set the (Monster) Level Adjustment mod to 'All' (because 'local' would depend on other maps/mods).
The mod reminds the state you have selected once, and when you hold the mouse cursor above the button aside the stash then you could see the current state displayed in the label field on top of the screen.

The Aranna Legacy mod cannot really do this, but it works quite well together with the Level Adjustment mod.

Whether or not you also should install the Aranna Legacy mod - ...probalbly it is OK to play without it initially, for a while - just to see the difference.
However I think the addon is better than some people say, but indeed if you watch it closely you may discover several tiny flaws in the addon, and this mod is trying to fix them as good as possible.
Thank you KiGrem for the information. I think I will use both mods together and see how it goes.
Looks like you're all good.

Just fyi, if you need to adjust any mods you get from that site (now that it's working), there are a few tools you can use to adjust each file. TankView2 (or maybe TankViewer2), TankCreator2 and Skritpad. These allow the extraction of the .ds2 files (or maybe it's called .ds2res I forget lol) to edit like you would a normal text file.

There should be a hard monster mob on the site. I'll check into it.
.
Thank you again to both of you for helping me.

I like some of the features in Aranna Legacy. My favorite so far is how it handles shops. The base game always sells the exact same ONE good item in each category and that is it. The mod randomizes the items in the store and there are enough good items to choose between. Much better that way. It makes shops more interesting to check out when I am back in town.
I'm using several mods direct from the Nexus.

https://www.nexusmods.com/dungeonsiege1

Also has mods for DS2 & 3.
