I have downloaded the ADiKtEd editor for DK1 & I'm trying to put the 'Reveal Map' special next to the dungeon heart for the levels. I'm curious to see how the computer plays out levels from the start.

Problem is I cannot seem to load the maps using the ADiKtEd editor.

Has anybody done this themselves & can you provide me with an answer please?

Adikted needs to run in the directory that contains Dungeon Keeper's level folder, otherwise attempting to load a map will open a blank map.
You could also just copy the levels folder into Adikted's directory if you put it in a separate folder.
The changes you make will be to those copies. When you're done you can copy them over to the real levels folder.

Here's the settings I use for my Adikted shortcut to get the best view.
Create a shortcut of map.exe
Rename to Adikted
Open properties
Change font settings to 8x8
Change layout WINDOW SIZE to 125x87

I'm getting there however, whenever I try to load a level it reads, Error: Cannot open file when loading ".\levels\map00001.own"

What am I doing wrong?

I'm assuming it is the .slb map files that can be amended?
Sounds like you are missing the map00001.own file. I get this same error if I delete mine.

Edit:
I've tried testing original DOS Dungeon Keeper, GOG Dungeon Keeper, and KeeperFX and I'm not having issues.
It doesn't seem to matter if the file is read-only. Could yours be corrupted? Are you on windows or linux?

Windows 10
I don't have Windows 10 to test in myself. Maybe try some compatibility options on the shortcut?
You could try asking on the keeperklan.com forums.
Most likely ADiKtEd can't find the needed files. In your ADiKtEd folder you'll find a map.ini, edit it with notepad and you'll see this:

; Folder where levels are stored; ".\" means
; the directory where ADiKtEd is; you may still
; load maps from other folders if you specify
; the path when opening/saving file;
LEVELS_PATH=.\levels

Change the last line to reflect where the dungeon keeper levels are located. When you have the editor open pressing Ctrl+L should give you the entire list of maps.

If you are using KeeperFX you have a better alternative. You can use cheat mode to reveal the entire map. Run the game with the -ALEX command line option, start your level, possess a creature and press F12 to get a menu to do so.
I got it working now Durandall87. Thanks.

Just another quick question, what map numbers relate to the Deeper Dungeon maps?
The first column in DD1LEV.txt, I think. (122-150)

Those are multiplayer levels. You need 80-97.
That makes more sense :). Thanks Loobinex.
