So,Dungeon Keeper. Fun little game, despite the at times poor AI (One fly after 90 minutes and 4 gem faces? REALLY blue keeper?) and mean level design (SCREW YOU,TULIPSCENT!) but I crave more. I've heard for YEARS about something called KeeperFX,and, after some research,I discover that hoops need to be jumped through to install it with the GOG version. I've tried looking up solutions here, but they're confusing, muddled, and assume you know many things that I do not.

So,I'd like clear and complete "Moron Mode" instructions on how to get it working on the most recent GOG version of Dungeon Keeper, which includes Deeper Dungeons, yay! As for required tools,I have 7zip and Daemon Lite. If I need other tools to do this,I'd rather the (legal) free versions. In advance,THANK YOU for your time and assistance.

With GOG's new Gold version of the game, you no longer need to worry about mounting the game image. So here are the steps you need to take:

1) Install the latest GOG version of Dungeon Keeper Gold, if you haven't already

2) Create a folder somewhere on your hard drive named "KeeperFX" (or whatever you want to call it). For me it is C:\games\KeeperFX

3) Download the latest "complete version" (currently 0.43) of KeeperFX here, if you haven't already

4) Open the downloaded file with 7-zip and extract everything to your newly-created KeeperFX folder

5) Go into your KeeperFX folder and run "launcher.exe".

6) In the Launcher window, select "Installation". Then select the "Dungeon Keeper Gold" folder wherever you installed it (Windows 7 default should be C:\GOG Games\Dungeon Keeper Gold). A message should pop up that says the necessary files are checked and correct. Select "Yes" to copy the necessary files.

7) You're done. Change any options you feel like and run the game.

I can confirm that ThreeSon's instructions worked for me.

I have to assume that all the stuff about having the original CD or mounting GAME.GOG with Daemon Tools is for the music only, or perhaps merely a huge red herring. At least with the cursory check I made, the game runs perfectly well without it.
ThreeSon,thank you. Your instructions work. Now all I have to do is fiddle with the resolution setting until the game stops being all rainbow. But,that's something I can do on my own. Thank you, truly.

No problem. One step I should've added at the end: Once you've finished verifying and copying the files in the KeeperFX launcher, you can then uninstall the GOG installation of Dungeon Keeper, as you will no longer need it (assuming the KeeperFX version is working for you).
Thanks a lot ThreeSon, I have followed your instructions and now the game works flawless :D

This is an old thread.

People who want to use KeeperFX can simply install it over their Dungeon Keeper Gold folder.
