Hi all,

We have uploaded a new .DEB package and tarball archive for Duke Nukem 3D. (file names: gog_duke_nukem_3d_1.0.0.7.deb and gog_duke_nukem_3d_1.0.0.7.tar.gz respectively)

Changes for the new .deb/tarball:

- multiplayer will work now
- game crash on German system language settings should be fixed now

Thanks and have a nice day :)

Thanks!
I've only got a new icon next to the tarball (.deb not marked as new), but they're both new version as stated here.
Thanks! Still disappointing we don't have Megaton Edition here yet, as a 9.99 option.
Thanks for the update. Installed the tar. Runs flawless on my Gentoo Linux. :-)
Please include menu launcher for Duke Nukem 3D settings in Linux package. I think people new to the game couldn't know there is some separate app to configure mouse, keyboard and other stuff.
I'm new to using Linux. What is Tarbal? Why do I or would I need it?

A tarball is equivalent to having a zip archive. If you are on Ubuntu or Mint then you shouldn't need it. The tarball archive simply contains the contents of the Ubuntu installer package so that it could possibly be extracted and run on other Linux-based OSes.
Ahh, gotcha. Ok thanks.

Though many may still prefer it.
Was there any change on the PC installer with that? A new compression used? v. 2.0.0.85 is about 4 MB smaller than the previous 0.84 version; considering the overall size of the game it is quite a chunk.

I got used to the MBs/GBs getting bigger for each new version ;)
Hey guys,
Many thanks for supporting Linux and this deb package is great.
Installed and run on Linux Mint 17, flawless!

I'm a really happy person today. :D

Cheers,

Quite true, considering that the tarballs allow you to run your games from somewhere beneath your home directory, with its own configuration and saves separate from other users on the system, all without ever needing to escalate to root privileges. While that last part may not be an issue for those of you in %wheel on your respective systems, you may not always find yourself in that situation.

Your parents or roommates may have set up and maintain the system you're using, or you may be trying to sneak in a bit of Duke at work if your workplace uses Linux, or play some Duke at your local library if they've made the switch, so the tarball is quite useful if you can't install packages from where you're sitting. :)
