Hikari Update - Patch Notes v1.1.0.2

Today’s update continues our ongoing support for #DRIVE Rally following its 1.0 release.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s been playing, leaving feedback, posting reviews, and reporting bugs. The good, the bad, and everything in between – we’re listening, and it genuinely helps us make the game better.

What’s New? Penalty System Rework
One of the biggest focuses of this update is a complete overhaul of the penalty system – something we’ve been wanting to revisit for a while now.

The Old System
Previously, the penalty system worked like this:

- If you went off-road (even slightly), you got slowed down.
- If you hit racing tapes or nets, you got slowed down even more.
- If you went too far off-road, your car would be reset to the road and you’d get a 3-second time penalty.

With the old penalty system, two main problems started to show.
First, corner cutting was just too effective — going full speed through turns and going offroad didn’t slow you down enough to make it a bad idea. And then there was the unexpected one: some players figured out that instead of braking into a corner, they could just slam straight through racing tapes or nets to slow the car down instead. People were using our track barriers as a braking tool. That's not exactly what we designed them for.

The New System
So, here’s what we’ve changed:

- We’ve removed the slowdown effect for simply going slightly off-road (like with 1 or 2 wheels).
- We’ve reduced heavily the slowdown effect for hitting racing objects like tapes and nets.
- Instead, if you go far enough off the main route, you’ll now see a new “OFFROAD!” warning popup.
- While OFFROAD popup is active, your car will be slowed down until you return closer to the main road.
- Go even deeper off-track? Just like before, your car will reset and you’ll get a 3-second penalty.

We believe this approach will encourage more technical and skillful driving, while at the same time discouraging unrealistic stage cutting and making most of the old skipping spots useless.

Leaderboard Reset
Since this update significantly changes how you race, we’ve decided to reset all online leaderboards.
It’s a fresh start for everyone to compete fairly using the improved penalty system. So grab your favorite car, hit the track, and go climb that board!

New Car
We are also adding a totally new car - Hikari 1995, available in three classes: CL, RS, and XR. With 6 unique livery designs and 12 color presets, available for in-game $500 each.

New Music
Okay, we’ll admit it — that main menu beat was getting a bit old. If you've played the game for more than ten minutes, you’ve definitely heard it on loop at least 300 times. We knew it was time for a change.

So, we went digging. Really digging and hey, we found some absolute bangers.

Now, when you boot up the game, you’ll be greeted by “Eigengrau” by Nihilore instead of that same old womp-womp loop. It’s fresh, it slaps, and it sets the mood a lot better. But that’s not all — we’ve added a full lineup of new tracks that you’ll hear during the racing.

They come from some seriously cool artists: Nihilore, hellstar.plus, ROZKOL and Rrrrrose Azerty. All the tracks are released under Creative Commons Attribution licenses (3.0 and 4.0), which means we can share them with you directly in the game, and credit the awesome artist behind them properly.
