Something I'm not quite sure of and didn't see addressed in all the questions about DLCs, should I run the Dragon Age and complete the quests first and THEN run the patch to play DLC, or execute the patch before running the game. Seems they would have already run the patch before creating the .bin files if that was true.

Most of the DLC's are in the main download I believe.
The extra dlc was a pre purchase bonus or something like that, which they later added.
I'm still using my disc version, so I'm not sure, but I think that's what it is.

I'm assuming you're talking about the DAUpdater exe in the bin_ship folder, which is a tool for installing mods. If that is what you are talking about then no you do not need to run it at all.

I don't seem to have that exe in my game files, did you install through Galaxy?

Just purchased it through GOG. There was and .exe, several .bin files, and the patch.

I'm not really sure then I would guess that running it is safe and shouldn't mess up your game.

No, haven't installed galaxy, just bought it outright from GOG and installed it myself. I think you've answer my question - since Galaxy ran the patch first, I should too.

Ya the dlc+ hotfix patch has to be run manually if you fresh install.

It shouldn't matter if you've already run the game or not. The patch only fixed Origin recognizing this version of the game and trying to update it, and the missing dlc stuff is just a small campaign and some Collector's edition items. But if you want the full complete thing then yes update before playing.

Yes just install everything.
When you start your game, go to downloadable content, then installed content.
If you want your first playthrough vanilla (without the DLC's) then just uncheck the DLC's before you create your character.
Or check only the ones you want.
If after you start your first game you decide you want Shale companion, just check the stone prisoner dlc and the new quest will show up when you continue your game.
