Hello all,

Of the Dragon Age series, I own only Dragon Age: Origins (on GOG and on Origin, where it was given away long ago). My question is:

If you play only DAO, is there a satisfying end of the story and no cliffhangers, or do you need to play the following games if you care about characters and story development? (I don't really care about lore and universe in general.)

Thanks in advance for your experience!

It is a fully self contained story.
In my opinion, the best ending is with your funeral, and friends saying how great you were.
So that wraps everything up nicely, and is as you say "satisfying".
Should you survive, you can carry on into the Awakening expansion. (which you have) and continue the story with the same warden, or with a new one if you chose the sacrifice yourself.
But Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition are stories about different people in the same world.

Self content. Due lore reasons, Your character of DA:O do not appear in the later games. Also, the other games attempts to handle different conflicts, with some interesting plot/lore twist on the third one.

There are some stuff not resolved on the first game, but they are minor for its main plot. And also, works as tools for the books and following games
Thanks/Merci guys, well I'll play it soon then, since it's standalone and I was reluctant to buy the whole series (and besides on other platforms).
