I played Doom 3 BFG a while ago. Today there was a new "game" on my own account a Doom 3 with only serial keys.
I don't remember having to actually use any a while ago when I played it, and I don't really understand why you should need it and why it got a separate "folder..."
Do any of you know what's going on?

They finally added the original versions of the Doom 3 main game and the Resurrection of Evil expansion pack.

ok but there are no download. Also why do you even need a serial key for bfg version now?

So we just need to wait a little like at the release of WoL Gun Manor?
At first the game only gave me the linux packages.

Now I can see the game download and I understand why you need the serial keys (only for the original release not for the bfg).
Still it's not like the give the game really for free, they just added it to the owners of doom 3 bfg edition.
And I already played it, I don't think I will play the original release any time soon. Also I'm not sure why it's not just an extra on the account page and why should anyone pay for the same game again just because it's a different update of the same game.

BFG and OG release are bundled together with purchase for those who don't own either game while owners of BFG got the OG for no extra charge. Similar to how they did it on Steam where they gave you whatever game you didn't own (i.e. RoE and BFG if you own OG and vice versa). Basically, it gives players the option to play the original experience or play through the remastered if they so chose.

I can only testify this. I have bought the Doom 3 BFG edition on GOG on the very day it came out, back in January 2018, and I suddenly have just found the original Doom 3 for free in my games list. I cannot wait to get the true Doom 3 experience, it's so horribly long ago. Thanks GOG!!!!

I can attest as well; I had the Doom trilogy since October 2017 and an order for the original Doom 3 was added into my library yesterday and a serial key to activate the game and Resurrection of Evil expansion pack in one package along with the updated Unity ports of Doom I and Doom II on GOG last year after Steam got them a year or so later.
