Hi, I'm new to all of this, and I don't have any idea about mapping or setting up anything. I just want to use my Xbox One controller to play Doom 1 and Doom 2. My Xbox One controller is the new one, so I can connect it to my laptop. Can anyone help me step by step to configure the Xbox One controller to be use completely on these games? I just want to play these games like I did back on my 360. Right trigger to shoot, left trigger to sprint, use thumbstick, etc.

Here are the only things that I did and kinda worked on the controller:
1. At the start of the game (launch menu) I pressed 2 or 3, and strated puching buttons to configure the "joystick".
2. I set the fire button as button 1, which in fact it was just the A button on the controller.
3. When I started the game, the Doom guy just kept moving in circles with out me touching the controller.

Liked I said before, I have no clue or any expirience.
Thanks.

P.S. i like 9Gag

Are you trying to play these through the Doom 3 BFG edition? Or are you trying to play the standalone releases? If the answer is the latter, then are you just running them through the default DOSBox install? If you are, then you may try to run them through a source port (GZDoom, etc. - anything updated within the last decade should do) that will have (potentially) better controller support than the DOSBox version that's packaged with the games by default. At the very least it will be easier to map the controls.
