I have 90+ hours on Steam in this game from back when it released. (A lot was multiplayer too, and a lot of unlocks ingame)
GOG didn't import the Steam save. When I forced it across it detected the old save from 2017 as a corrupted save and it would show as:
" #str_metric_game_completed DEV " - ie: gamedev cheat mode - Which it wasn't. But nothing was accessible anyway.

I thought I was going crazy so I reinstalled the Steam Version alongside the GOG version and lo and behold the Steam Version dedicated my 8 year old saves perfectly as I left them with 100% game completion and some trophies etc unlocked with whatever else was originally unlocked in my old playthrough.

So does anyone know how to make the 2 save formats work or import the Steam save without causing corruption? I don't want to play through from scratch again. I wanted to do more of a revisit of the game (in the GOG version) and levels.

The files are stored in C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM\base subfolders
savegame.user
& savegame

I can find 100% saves for Steam's version but haven't found a GOG 100% savegame. If someone has one I'm happy to just use that at this point.

I notice that the GOG version is using an updated version string of the last candidate build that is not on Steam. It would be nice if the save and settings can work on GOG from Steam.

Hi M4xxst3in Ah maybe that's why the save fails then. Version mismatch. Hopefully STEAM : GOG savegames & settings can be in synch in future. I don't want to unlock everything again. Cheers
