Does the GOG version have any extra levels or features compared to free Doom 64 EX, or just the technicalities like compatibility improvements, bug fixes, ect? The description on store page is kinda vague.

They differ significantly in both features like the Lost Levels for the rerelease and technical-wise like using significantly different engines (the rerelease's engine shares origins with Doom 64 EX, but has been updated and improved for so many years that one could consider them to be separate engines). This post by the developer of Doom 64 EX and the one on GOG explains the differences between the two much better than I ever could: https://doom64ex.wordpress.com/2020/03/24/differences-between-doom-64-ex-2-5-versus-the-official-remaster/

I've seen that post, but because it only talks about technical differences I was wondering if I should expect any extra content.

Unlikely. DOOM 64 was an N64 release, and those never had patches or new content.

If the 'engine upgrade' isn't enough of a sell, and it isn't for me, stick with the EX version.

The remaster (available on GOG and Steam) has the Lost Levels which is an extra campaign of 7 levels.

that is also included with the STEAM version just for reference's sake.
