Having spoken with the Dwarven King, and learning that the Breastplate is in the possesion of one of the rich merchants in Verdistis, I then spoke with the Dwarven Smith as advised.

Niether of them mention which of the rich merchants it is, and fair enough.

But neither Sir Patrick or Sir Dante provide any dialogue whatsoever.

I have since learned by searching the net that Sir Dante is the one and that you need to sort out a 'bad debt' problem for him. After this you get the breastplate as a reward.

For some reason though he never mentions the debt part of the quest chain so unfortunately I'm stuck.

Any suggestions?

I've gone over this sequence events a number of times now, thanks to frequent saves but still no results.

Lucius' house is just to the NE of Sir Patrick's place, and he owes Sir Patrick 2500. Frankly, the best thing to do here is offer to pay the debt fo him. It's only 2500 gold coins, and if you aren't swimming in gold at this stage in the game, then something is wrong. So you return to Sir Patrick, pay the 2500, and he immediately gives you the breastplate.

I believe this link covers what you need to know about the quest . . . =)

@ DaveO-MM - thanks for the tip mate. I followed up on your suggestion and visited Lucius.

Regarding Gold, I've got bucket loads of that!!

Unfortunately, the dialogue options regarding Lucius / the Breastplate still don't appear when speaking with Sir Patrick.

@ Stuff - I've read up on the quest at Game Banshee, The Locus Inn (downloadable quest guide), The official Larian Forums and a number of other sites.

The problem is that for some reason the trigger for the dialogue option for Sir Patrick isn't working, and I'm not sure why.

The Larian forums mentioned a workaround where you swap out the "dialogue" file from a early save game. (ie before ever visiting Verdistis).

You then talk with Sir Patrick, and swap the current "dialogue" file back in afterwards.

Unfortunately that didn't work either.

I got the dragon armor in every game without difficulty so I am sorta at a loss as to why you are having the problem. I think it may be because you have not gotten the quest yet and Sir P won't have the dialog if you don't have the quest so . . . here is a post which covers how to get the quest.

Edit: Seems like you had to speak to the Dwarf King a second time to get the quest, first time he is simply acknowledging the existence of the set. Did you have the note from the caves when you talked with him??

********************************* There be spoilers beyond here********************
Dragon Set
- The belt is in an abandoned house of Verdistis. The house should be to the
WEST of the town. When you get inside and walk towards the hatch, the
floor will break and you'll land in the basement.
- The shield is in the armory of the Stormfist castle. If you were already
kicked out, approach the entrance, and fling your pyramid through the
entrance and you'll be able to visit the castle again (just avoid making a
mess because this seems to be an exploit and not something intended).
- The gloves are in one of the burial pyres in the Elves Burial to the
south. keep looking out for a selectable pyre cuz it's the only one that
has anything inside.
- The quest to get the armor is given to you by the dwarf king. To enable
it you MUST bring a note from the caves (same caves where you get the ax)
that proves the king brother's guilt (it's a study in the very north east
corner of the caves).
It's hard to get because you must defeat an
extremely tough wizard to get there. When you are about to enter the
throne room, you might need to use the fling trick (just throw the note
inside the room and pick it up after the checkpoint) to get the note past
the checkpoint where the guards take all your stuff away temporarily.
After you talk about the note's subject, the king will tell you that you
need to get the armor and the dragon heart. If you complete the Axe quest
by giving it to the king you get the armor quest. If you complete the axe
quest by taking it back to the town yourself and talking to that priestly
type you don't get the armor quest!
Armor: go to Sir Patrick at Verdistis and after you ask him, he'll send you
on a simple and quick errand (be sure to have 2500 gold handy).
Dragon heart: This is another tough one. Go to the warrior's guild and ask
for admission. After the first quest, you'll be sent to retrieve it. I hope
you didn't kill the dragon rider in the imp's castle before the quest was
given.
After you have both, just go to the dwarfs' smith at the halls and after a
day's work hell have the plate ready.
- Show the restored dragon armor to the dwarf king (get it through the
checkpoint) and you'll get the helm.

Quoted from here . . . hope this helps . . . =)

Thanks for the link to the walkthrough, I haven't seen that one before.

You are correct that I made a number of attempts, three in fact.

After I recovered the Stone Axe and got the note I went to see the Dwarf King straight away.

I created a save game before entering the hall.

All gear was taken upon entry except the Stone Axe.

When talking with the King the Dragon Armour dialogue was available

Then I spoke with the Dwarven Blacksmith, and the Dragon Armour dialogue was available.

The problem is that no dialogue options for the breastplate or the debt recovery quest were available when talking to Sir Patrick.

The second time around seeing the Dwarf King I dropped the note on the ground as far inside the entrance as I could, picking it up after having my gear removed.

This time I had the Axe and note when talking with the King.

Everything went well again until Sir Patrick.

The third time around using the same save, I did the drop and place trick but this time with a transporter stone.

This enabled me to gain entry to the hall with all my gear, (Stone Axe and note), including all Dragon Amour collected up to that point.

Once again everything went well up to Sir Patrick.

It seems from the walkthrough you linked to and other game guides I've read I've done everything right.

The only conclusion I can come to then is that some how my save has become corrupted.

I'll load one of my much earlier saves (groan), and play on from there.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Cheers mate.
Hi folks, it's a little belated, but running the game from a very early save game was successful.

I was able to complete the Dragon Armour quest sucessfully and the continue on to the complete the game without further glitches. It would seem that my later save game was somehow corrupted after all.

My thanks to those who offered advice, particulary Stuff.

Thought I should mention that the "quick save" (CTRL-S) has corrupted saves for some myself included. I just use the "S" key to save now and have not had another corrupted save.
