Hi,

I just installed DOS:EE on my Mac and I'm running into some bizarre problem... Even though my graphic details have been set to Ultra, when I go in the character editor everything (models and environment) is shown in extremely low detail (extremely low resolution textures, low polygon count; see attached screenshot) which kind of makes it difficult to see the changes that one would want to make... Changing the visual settings around (to high or even mid) doesn't change a thing. Furthermore, changing the voice of the characters no longer plays an example clip (which I seem to remember it did in the original version).

i have the lateste version from GOG installed on a Mac that's running 10.9.5 and that (should) exceed the recommended hardware requirements... Has anyone else encountered this issue and by any chance found a workaround for it in that case?

Well, I fixed it! It seems that the game doesn't like to be installed on any HD other than the main system drive... Doing that fixed the issues.
Kind of annoying though as I keep my games on a 4TB HD since my main SSD only has limited space... If anybody from GOG reads this, is there any special reason that DOS:EE absolutely requires to be installed on the main HD?

No. It looks like there is a problem with texture streaming when the game is on the HDD, but not the SSD, or the same issue exists but the SSD avoids it by loading faster.

Is there anything else different about the HDD? Is it an external drive, or have a different file system, etc?

Does the texture problem persist if you get into the game itself? Or is it just character creation where this happens?
Are the voice samples played with the game on the SSD?

Someone else ran into this texture problem on PC in character creation, though AFAIK they didn't try installing the game to a different hard drive (it was installed to the default Steam folder on their c: drive). The programmer who looked at that asked me to ask if he had disabled texture streaming in the configuration file (can improve performance, though uses more memory), but they never replied or gave any kind of update if they fixed it or not.

What are your full system specs, including graphics card? You can post, or email supportdos@larian.com.
To get system specs you can use the 'System Report' button from the 'About This Mac' Apple menu item or the 'System Information' app (in the utilities folder).
